Coming off last month’s Microsoft Inspire event, we continue to be excited about our automotive customers’ and partners’ advancements in areas such as automated driving, resilient supply chains, and new mobility services. This year, our automotive partner of the year winner is Blue Yonder. We are proud of their efforts to bring their data intelligence platform on Azure with solutions that shift an automotive customer’s ability to differentiate their business through visibility, speed, and automation. We also want to extend our congratulations to finalists Ericsson, Linker Networks, and Technosoft Corporation.

We also applaud those businesses that are working hard to find new avenues to enhance global sustainability and increase vehicle safety. For example, Mercedes-Benz AG recently joined Microsoft and several companies in support of the NetZero effort, which seeks to eliminate emissions by 2050. We also see incredible innovations occurring despite the business challenges created by the current pandemic. In this article from The Record, we discuss the ways automotive companies are adapting at exceptional speed. This Cloud Wars article also highlights the industry’s transformation process and how Microsoft aligns to support our customers and partners.

Two important themes emerge in the automotive industry today. First, many businesses are pivoting from their legacy business models to become mobility service providers. Big data and fast, global connectivity open the door for all-new applications and additional revenue streams. Secondly, automotive companies seek new ways to drive efficiency and reduce costs, especially in these unprecedented times. Migration to integrated cloud services offers customers the flexible, scalable, and cost-effective infrastructure and productivity needed to advance their business.

Today, we continue seeing three phases that automotive companies face as they chart a course for the future. The first phase is respond, and here, investments enabling increased productivity are critical. The second phase is recover. As companies re-open, they must prioritize employee safety while focusing on business continuity. The final phase is reimagine. We have many examples of companies embracing digital transformation as they adapt to changes in the auto industry. Those advancements lead to new revenue streams from emerging mobility services, vehicle design innovations, better customer experiences, and much more.

Thank you for the opportunity to help automotive companies bring their ideas to fruition. It’s our goal to be a partner you can trust to enhance your operational resiliency and business continuity.

Below you will find more news and resources, so I invite you to read on.

Sincerely

Sanjay Ravi, Microsoft Automotive
