Players like Mesut \u00d6zil and Alexis Sanchez have a lot of fans \u2013 millions of them, in fact. But for all the fans who can rattle off their career statistics, or who rush out to buy the same football boots they wear, only a tiny fraction of those fans have ever seen them play live. If you think about it, Arsenal FC has over 7 million followers on Twitter and 35 million Facebook likes, but their stadium holds just over 60,000 people.
