According to the Office for National Statistics, while the UK’s productivity has risen steadily over the past seven years, it still lags behind most of the other G7 nations when it comes to overall productivity. That means as a nation, we’re less productive than countries such as the US and France. I mean honestly no disrespect to France, but from an objective business perspective, if our teams have bested France in the most recent Six Nations Rugby Tournament, and clearly will be trouncing them at this year’s Euros, then surely we should be able to beat them at the productivity game as well. Oui?

Friendly sporting rivalry aside, though, if we think about many of the drivers of productivity – the UK really should be poised to see significant gains in our productivity versus other leading nations. In areas such things such as access to technology and entrepreneurial activity, the UK fares quite well. We’re number one in the G7 when it comes to internet adoption. In terms of key entrepreneurial factors such as entrepreneurial education in primary and secondary schools or cultural and social norms that encourage new business, the UK leads the way among the top EU economies.

So if the pieces are there for the UK to thrive when it comes to productivity, why aren’t we leading the pack? We asked over 3,000 working UK adults for their thoughts on the issue. This short video provides some insight into ways for those of us in the UK to boost our overall productivity. Spoiler alert, it has a lot to do with mobility, access and the right devices.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=SVpKbF11gLY

So whether you’re working in an office or remotely, say at the Stade de France somewhere around 10 July cheering on your favourite team (Roy and the boys, y Dreigiau, Norn Iron or the Tartan Army, most likely) in the Euros final, with the right mobility solution in place you’ll be sure to stay at the peak of your productivity.
