I believe it can take you anywhere, and yet I\u2019m the first one to be surprised at the heights we can achieve. As far as I\u2019m concerned space is the limit, or as we geeks like to be reminded\u2026 the final frontier.<\/p>\n<p>I worked on 2 projects with <a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-gb\/services\/orbital\/?WT.mc_id=modinfra-39025-pierrer#overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Azure Orbital<\/a>, one of which was featured online:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/news.microsoft.com\/features\/cloud-data-bursts-from-space-move-astronauts-closer-to-mars-and-improve-life-on-earth\/?WT.mc_id=modinfra-39025-pierrer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cloud \u2018data bursts\u2019 from space move astronauts closer to Mars \u2014 and improve life on Earth<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-gb\/blog\/genomics-testing-on-the-iss-with-hpe-spaceborne-computer2-and-azure\/?WT.mc_id=modinfra-39025-pierrer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Genomics testing on the ISS with HPE Spaceborne Computer-2 and Azure<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some of the challenges on these project involve storing and transferring large amounts of data from space to earth <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-gb\/azure\/networking\/azure-orbital-overview?WT.mc_id=modinfra-39025-pierrer#digital-transformation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ground stations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment-full webp-format aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/industry\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2021\/08\/azureorbital.png\" alt=\"A diagram demonstrating how Azure Orbital works\" width=\"614\" height=\"291\" data-orig-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/industry\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2021\/08\/azureorbital.png 1263w, https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/industry\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2021\/08\/azureorbital-300x142.png 300w, https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/industry\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2021\/08\/azureorbital-1024x485.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/industry\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2021\/08\/azureorbital-768x364.png 768w, https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/industry\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2021\/08\/azureorbital-330x156.png 330w, https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/industry\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2021\/08\/azureorbital-800x379.png 800w, https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/industry\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2021\/08\/azureorbital-400x189.png 400w\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/industry\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2021\/08\/azureorbital.png\"><\/p>\n<p>On both these projects, networking, security, deployment skills and more are crucial for the success of the project and therefore we (as a community) need to ensure we are ready for new adventures while leveraging the skills we already possess. However, it never hurts to learn new ways.
