Employee Volunteer Program (EVP) & Giving Campaign
The Employee Volunteer and Giving Programs encourage employees to support NGOs and communities by making financial contributions, volunteering their time, and donating other resources.
Microsoft employees have always been proactive in offering financial aid to local communities in need. In 2000, Microsoft India started its Employee Giving Campaign, the largest corporate giving program in the world. Through this program, employees participate and donate to a charity in October of every year. The funds thus raised are equally matched by Microsoft before being handed over to trusted non-profits.
Employees can also give back to the community by contributing a certain percentage of their pay, supporting a cause.
The three aspects to this program:
- Cash contributions by employees through payroll deduction
- Microsoft Match program with an annual limit of INR 250,000 per employee in the engineering team and INR 50,000 for all other employees
- Employee Volunteering Policy of three working days, during which employees volunteer their time towards particular causes
Employee Giving in Numbers:
- 1,50,000 youth and children have been supported through the Giving Program
- 144 NGOs have contributed a total of Rs. 19.32 crores
