Frequently asked questions

Both Windows 10 and Windows 11 have their strengths, but Windows 11 has new features that Windows 10 doesn’t, like Auto HDR and optimizations for windowed games, which can reduce game latency and improve visuals.

Absolutely! You should consider updating to Windows 11 if your hardware supports the Windows 11 minimum system requirements. Windows 11 offers the same level of game support as Windows 10, with fantastic additional gaming features like Auto HDR, Dynamic Lighting, Controller bar, and optimizations for windowed games.

Windows 11 does most of the optimization for you, but there are a few Settings you might want to double check to ensure you’re getting the best gaming performance from your system. First, ensure that Game Mode is enabled in Settings > Gaming > Game Mode; it should be on by default. Next, check out Settings > System > Display > Graphics, and choose “Change default graphics settings.” Here, you can turn on hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling, optimizations for windowed games, and Auto HDR (if you’re using an HDR display.)

Auto HDR is a feature in Windows 11 that automatically upgrades the color and brightness levels of Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) games to High Dynamic Range (HDR). This enhances the visual quality of games.

DirectStorage is a new feature that improves game load times. It works automatically if your PC and game are compatible. You can easily check if your PC supports DirectStorage: First, open the Game Bar (Win + G), then select the Gear icon, and choose “Gaming Features.

PC Game Pass is a subscription service offering a library of games to download and play. It’s updated monthly and integrated into Windows 11 via the Xbox app.
