New incentive for CSP partners: FY23 cooperative marketing funds in the new commerce experience http://approjects.co.za/?big=en-us/americas-partner-blog/2022/11/17/new-incentive-for-csp-partners-fy23-cooperative-marketing-funds-in-the-new-commerce-experience/ Thu, 17 Nov 2022 17:37:46 +0000 https://msftuspartnerblog.azurewebsites.net/en-us/us-partner-blog/?p=46704 ....]]>

Microsoft’s partner incentives programs are designed to reward partners for participating in our ecosystem and meet customer needs through value-added services. Customer needs often extend beyond the transaction, so we offer partner incentives and investments across each stage of the customer journey.

As of November 1, 2022, partners participating in the Microsoft Commerce Incentives (MCI) program can begin earning cooperative marketing funds (co-op). Partners can apply these funds toward development and marketing costs related to best practices for building channel awareness and promoting Microsoft products.

What are the benefits to you?

Co-op funds are being offered in the MCI program as an investment in partner demand generation, market development, and readiness activities. These investments can both contribute to market awareness and sales pipeline growth, and support efforts to develop technical skills that are needed to build specialized practices and Centers of Excellence around Microsoft technologies.

Partners enrolled in the MCI program will begin earning a 60 percent rebate/40 percent co-op split for new commerce Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) engagements as previously available in the legacy CSP incentive program. Enrolled partners will accrue co-op funds from November 1, 2022 – December 31, 2022, which can be used during the subsequent six months (January 1, 2023 – June 30, 2023) on eligible co-op activities.

Reimbursement for eligible activities can be claimed through Partner Center under the MCI program starting February 16, 2023. If your co-op funds for November 1, 2022 – December 31, 2022, are below the USD10,000 minimum threshold, the funds will be converted to rebate and paid.

Incentives in CSP new commerce went into effect in October 2021 and will be earned and paid through the MCI program. Incentives for legacy CSP subscriptions will be paid through December 31, 2022. After that date, any legacy subscription still in effect won’t generate monthly incentive earnings or payments to the partner. Partners should consider the end of monthly rebate payments for legacy subscriptions starting January 1, 2023, when making decisions about when to migrate legacy subscriptions to new commerce. However, Microsoft will continue to pay programmatic margin as part of the legacy CSP program for seat-based.

Get started earning your co-op funds

To ensure you don’t miss out on using your earned FY23 co-op funds, take these steps:

  1. Enroll in the MCI program through Partner Center.
  2. Review these MCI resources and Co-op funds resources.
  3. Understand the changes to your monthly earnings.
  4. Set up an MCI co-op bank and tax profile in Partner Center.*
  5. Distribute this communication to all the members of your organization who plan and/or manage co-op funds.

Partners must be enrolled in the MCI program, have a completed bank and tax profile for the co-op earning type, and meet program requirements to start earning co-op funds. Sign in here for more information on how to review your eligibility and enroll.

*Profile must be complete and approved by November 30, 2022, to accrue November 2022 co-op funds.

Microsoft Commercial Marketplace: Six New Announcements http://approjects.co.za/?big=en-us/americas-partner-blog/2022/10/19/microsoft-commercial-marketplace-six-new-announcements/ Wed, 19 Oct 2022 23:11:28 +0000 https://msftuspartnerblog.azurewebsites.net/en-us/us-partner-blog/?p=46506 ....]]> Microsoft kicked off a new fiscal year (FY23) in July 2022, and the Microsoft commercial marketplace continues to innovate as the most partner-focused business platform to connect customers and partners at scale. Marketplaces are becoming a preferred procurement channel for customers, and Microsoft has seen nearly a 300 percent increase in software as a service (SaaS) solution sales through the marketplace. As customers look to increase efficiency, buy with confidence, and spend smarter through the Microsoft marketplace—we’re helping ISVs and existing partners accelerate their cloud go-to-market strategy.

Here are the top technical and business updates that Microsoft partners can leverage to grow their business through the marketplace.

1) Do more with marketplace and join us for the Marketplace Summit, November 15:
Get a virtual front-row seat to our first Marketplace Summit, a live broadcast from Microsoft Studios featuring a dynamic agenda of speakers and demonstrations based on insights from ISVs like you. We’ll share updates on our ISV Success program and offer valuable tools and resources along the way. This two-way dialogue will give you direct access to our leaders and engineering teams, helping you develop concrete strategies to reach new customers, simplify sales, and supercharge growth.

Action: Register and share the summit with your colleagues

2) Auto-approvals for marketplace deal registrations now available in Partner Center: Microsoft is addressing the identified challenge for speedy deal registration in the marketplace. To expedite the process, enhancements have been made to the Partner Center Deal Registrations for Azure Marketplace deals. Effective June 1, 2022, commercial marketplace-registered Azure IP Co-sell deals up to and including $1M (USD) annual contract value (ACV) will be auto-approved.

Action: Read more about this announcement here.

3) Multi-year pricing for marketplace SaaS offers: With this new feature, customers can purchase long-term contracts that span from one month to three years with customized payment schedule options.

Action: Learn how to leverage this functionality here.

4) Cloud GTM support for ISVs: With the ISV Success program currently in private preview, Microsoft is investing heavily to support ISVs in building across the Microsoft Cloud and going to market through the commercial marketplace. The team will be sharing updates on the ISV Success Program as part of the Marketplace Summit—be sure to tune in. Additionally, Microsoft signed a strategic partnership with Tackle, to support ISVs in jump-starting their cloud go-to-market strategy and scale their businesses through the Microsoft commercial marketplace.

5) New Transact and Grow Incentives: Microsoft will help partners drive their business through marketplace via new incentives in FY23 (July 2022-June 2023). Our Publish, Transact and Grow incentives were announced during the Marketplace Transact and Grow Incentive Campaign. These incentives support all partners to publishing and transacting new offers on the Marketplace. Other ISV incentives that were launched recently include the ISV ACR Growth Incentive and the ISV Strategic Workload Accelerator Incentive.

Action: Partners should discuss these exciting new incentives with their PDM.

6) New and simplified Publisher Agreement: Microsoft has updated the Microsoft Publisher Agreement to clarify respective tax obligations, remove outdated terms, and make the agreement easier to read.

Action: To see what’s changed since the last version, see Change history for Microsoft Publisher Agreement version 8.0 – October 2022 update.

The Microsoft Marketplace enables Microsoft partners to reach every customer whether selling directly in Microsoft channels, scaling through partners, or co-selling with our global sales force.

Set up time with your PDM to review these Marketplace enhancements and grow your business with these new offerings.

Pressures from the evolving global economy are requiring organizations to reduce costs and optimize operations as they continue to shift to a world of hybrid work. Do More with Less is a key customer campaign for SMBs in FY23. The messaging, assets, and offers in this field advisory are tailored for SMB customers and Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) partners.

Training opportunities to help you expand your customer base will also be a focus in FY23. With cost savings top of mind for SMBs, Microsoft 365 provides best-value suites and best-in-class products to help every small business achieve more. Customers can save money through vendor consolidation and decreased travel, increased security, and improved productivity and collaboration, all with one premium product.

Additionally, for CSP partners, the transition from legacy commerce to the new commerce experience creates an opportunity to better address customer needs with cost savings while generating additional revenue.

On September 1, 2022, Microsoft launched the new Do More with Less for SMBs campaign and the SMB New Customer and Upsell Promo to enable partners to grow revenue by acquiring new customers and upgrading existing customers to more premium products. The SMB New Customer and Upsell Promo offers a low-risk monthly commitment on any of the following products: Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Microsoft 365 Business Standard, Microsoft 365 Business Premium, Microsoft 365 Apps for Business, Microsoft Teams Essentials, and Microsoft Defender for Business.

CSP renewals shifting to new commerce exclusively http://approjects.co.za/?big=en-us/americas-partner-blog/2022/06/30/csp-renewals-shifting-to-new-commerce-exclusively/ Thu, 30 Jun 2022 19:00:15 +0000 https://msftuspartnerblog.azurewebsites.net/en-us/us-partner-blog/?p=44441 ....]]> Important update on the new commerce landing plan

In November 2019 Microsoft kicked off a multi-phase, multi-year transformational journey to deliver a simplified, consistent purchasing experience for both customers and partners. The new commerce experience in the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program improves the customer experience, while providing you with the opportunity to expand your customer base.

Our most significant change to CSP this year has been the release of seat-based offers on the new commerce experience. In January we made seat-based offers for Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Windows 365 available in new commerce in CSP. As of March, all new business has only been available in new commerce.

On June 28, 2022, we announced that the previously communicated plan of record to discontinue renewals of Legacy CSP subscriptions on July 11, 2022, has been changed. We will not remove the ability for partners to renew Legacy CSP subscriptions on July 11. Customers can continue to transact those offers but we continue to encourage partners to migrate subscriptions to new commerce.

It’s important to note that renewals of CSP deals will require partners to migrate customer subscriptions to new commerce from Legacy CSP. When a subscription in legacy reaches its renewal date, we encourage partners to migrate the subscription to the new commerce experience. The best practice is to proactively migrate all subscriptions prior to their renewal date from Legacy to new commerce now to ensure customers can leverage the benefits of the new commerce experience. As a reminder, Microsoft will not notify the partner or customer when a legacy subscription nears or reaches its expiration date. It will be the responsibility of the partner to monitor active legacy subscriptions to confirm when each one is due to expire.

Beginning July 11, to further simplify the transaction experience in CSP and align our policies, partners will have seven days after an order is placed to cancel new purchases or renewals for software subscriptions in CSP. Previously, a 30-day cancelation window was allowed for new purchases or renewals of software subscriptions for Windows Server, SQL Server, and Azure SQL Edge in CSP. This change does not apply to legacy CSP subscriptions during the transition to new commerce. Get the details here.

Partner calls to action

Upcoming milestones

As the new commerce experience continues to evolve through 2022 and beyond, we want to make sure you’re prepared for this upcoming milestone:

  • Legacy CSP seat-based offer incentives will be removed on December 31, 2022. We encourage you to start preparing for this transition now.

We appreciate the time and energy you’ve devoted to making sure you’re operationally ready to support all customers, new and renewing, exclusively on the new commerce experience. Partners play a critical role in helping guide customers through their digital transformation. We’re committed to helping you maximize the opportunities the new commerce experience provides to stay competitive in a cloud-first marketplace and grow your business.
