Ask a hiring manager what they\u2019re looking for today and you\u2019ll hear something that would have sounded unusual two years ago: not a longer list of tools, but a deeper set of human capabilities. New Microsoft research, Preparing Students for the Future of Work<\/a>, finds that roughly 70% of the skills used in most jobs are expected to change by 2030, AI literacy now appears in job listings around six times more often than a year ago, and 66% of leaders say they wouldn\u2019t hire someone without AI skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The OECD makes the same case in its 2025 framework, Education for Human Flourishing<\/em>, which argues that education should help every learner live \u201ca life they have reason to value,\u201d moving beyond a narrow human-capital view of schooling.1<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, the reports point to a consistent pattern: today\u2019s labor market increasingly rewards people who can apply their intelligence and adapt to context and continue learning. Thus, education\u2019s enduring purpose is to develop and refine those skills and dispositions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
