In my conversations with health leaders in Spain, I sometimes hear them talk about the cloud as a business tool to store amounts of data, but beyond operational efficiency, the benefits of the cloud can be felt personally by patients and care teams.

Patients want to navigate their health care using the same types of technology that make managing other areas of their daily lives easier. With the cloud, you can keep pace with their expectations and improve their experience throughout their care journey. You can offer patients self-service tools that they can access anytime so it’s faster and easier for them to schedule appointments, find the right caregiver, and get the information they need to make decisions and follow through on their care regimen.

When patients can be more engaged in managing their health and care journey, it not only enhances their wellbeing, but it also makes their experience with the health system better.

Health professionals can care for patients outside the walls of their clinic or hospital with cloud services. They can conduct virtual office visits. And they can monitor patients’ at-home medical device readings, such as blood glucose and blood pressure. When readings are out of range, alerts can be sent to a patient’s care team so they can intervene early to help head off health problems.

What’s more, you can connect dispersed care teams and information to provide people with more cohesive, patient-centered care. With a complete view of the interactions and activities associated with a patient across departments and even organizations, health professionals can quickly address the patient’s needs. And care team members can communicate in real time to cohesively coordinate services.

When care teams are empowered with technology that helps them take better care of their patients, it improves their job satisfaction. Plus, cloud tools save them time, which improves their personal productivity experience throughout their work day.

Finally, with the power of data analytics in the cloud, clinicians can also provide more personalized diagnosis and treatment based on each patient’s unique genomics thanks to the computing power and machine learning.

These are just a few examples of how the cloud can have a personal impact on your patients and care teams. At World of Health IT (WoHIT) Nov. 21 – 22 in Barcelona, Spain, we are showcasing scenarios from our customers. You can see how health organizations are taking advantage of cloud eHealth solutions from our partners to engage their patients, empower their care teams, optimize their clinical and operational effectiveness, and transform the care continuum.

In the meantime, you can learn more about the personal benefits of the cloud in health on our digital transformation webpage.

The cloud can make a personal impact in healthcare.
