It was exciting to see so many innovative IoT solutions presented there, especially those of our partner <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cio.com.au\/mediareleases\/28693\/hcl-wins-the-best-testbed-award-by-iot-solutions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HCL, which won a 2016 IoT Solutions Award in the category of \u201cBest Testbed&#8221;<\/a>, for its industrial IoT Surgical Track &amp; Trace solution, IoTWoRKS.<\/p>\n<p>IoTWoRKS is built entirely on the Microsoft cloud platform and can be seen in person at the upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.microsoft.com\/en-us\/event\/health-himss17\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HIMSS annual conference and exhibition<\/a> in Orlando, Florida, where HCL will be showcasing it in one of the conference\u2019s 20 innovative booths.<\/p>\n<p>The IoT-enabled surgical kit inventory management solution essentially can help health organizations track a surgical kit box to know where it is and what\u2019s in it. It\u2019s a great example of how organizations can connect smart medical devices and equipment to the Microsoft Cloud to help improve operational efficiency and reduce inventory costs.<\/p>\n<p>At HIMSS17, there will be displays of IoT solutions for remote patient monitoring, such as those from Microsoft Health partner <a href=\"http:\/\/digitally.cognizant.com\/industries\/healthcare-life-sciences\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cognizant<\/a>. Health organizations are using its solutions to help them empower patients and transform care. Case in point: Kaiser Permanente is working with Cognizant to pilot a way to give patients\u2014such as expectant mothers, diabetics, and people with Alzheimer\u2019s disease\u2014the choice to participate in remote monitoring in their homes. The pilot also aims to empower clinicians with better insight into health conditions through real-time access to data.
