These include advanced security with Microsoft Defender, creative tools like Microsoft Clipchamp, and countless enhancements to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re building on those 12 years of innovation by <strong>bringing Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft Designer to Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers in most markets worldwide<\/strong>.<sup>1<\/sup> These changes bring the transformative power of AI to the personal productivity tools that millions of people use every day. We planned several steps in our Copilot journey to listen, learn, and improve usability and performance. In January 2024, we started that journey by launching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/store\/b\/copilotpro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Microsoft Copilot Pro<\/a> to our consumer early adopters, learning that access to Copilot in the Microsoft 365 apps is a top reason for subscribing. And in October 2024, we launched a pilot of the changes we\u2019re announcing today in a small set of markets. We\u2019re officially taking the next big step by making Copilot part of our Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscriptions. Most of our 84 million consumer subscribers will now have access to Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and the newly renamed <a href=\"https:\/\/aka.ms\/Microsoft365CopilotApp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Microsoft 365 Copilot app<\/a>. We\u2019re delighted to empower millions of our customers with an AI assistant that supercharges the productivity apps they already know and love. In addition to accessing Designer within apps like Word and PowerPoint, you can also use the standalone Designer app on the web and mobile. Use Designer to create eye-catching images by simply describing what you&#8217;re looking for or choosing from pre-populated ideas. Plus, expertly edit your photos with AI by erasing unwanted objects with ease. Here are two scenarios to try with Designer:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Did you capture some holiday memories along with a few holiday distractions? Simply open Designer and upload your photo to edit with AI. You can easily select unwanted objects and watch Designer use AI to remove them from the photo.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Remove any background instantly and expertly edit photos with Microsoft Designer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xS7-JnMX8_k?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Capturing your favorite recipes in a recipe book and need to bring them to life? Describe your dish and Copilot in Word will use Designer to create a unique image that complements your recipe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Create eye-catching images with only your words in Microsoft Designer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/npIv5O4K444?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers will receive a monthly allotment of AI credits to use Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote. The credits can also be used for AI image generation and editing in Designer and in other AI-powered apps like Paint, Photos, and Notepad on a device running Windows. The monthly allotment should be enough for most subscribers. For Microsoft 365 Family subscribers, Copilot will be available to the subscription owner and cannot be shared with others. Those who frequently use Copilot can upgrade to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/store\/b\/copilotpro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Copilot Pro<\/a>, without worrying about usage limits. <a href=\"https:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/fwlink\/?linkid=2280151\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Learn more about AI credits<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re also committed to giving our customers control over their experience and know there are times when AI assistance isn\u2019t desired (like in some academic scenarios), so we\u2019re adding settings in apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint that allow you to disable or enable Copilot as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To reflect the extensive subscription benefits that we\u2019ve added over the past 12 years and enable us to deliver new innovations for years to come, we\u2019re increasing the prices of Microsoft 365 Personal and Family in the US for the first time since its release by $3 USD per month (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/microsoft-365\/buy\/compare-all-microsoft-365-products\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">visit our store to see local pricing<\/a>). Existing subscribers won\u2019t experience the price increase until their next renewal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, we understand that our customers have a variety of needs and budgets, so we\u2019re committed to providing options. Existing subscribers with recurring billing enabled with Microsoft can switch to plans without Copilot or AI credits like our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/microsoft-365\/p\/microsoft-365-basic\/cfq7ttc0ktxs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Basic plan<\/a>, or, for a limited time, to new <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/topic\/58342e83-38e7-4cda-b63b-88604a8fb7ef\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Personal Classic or Family Classic plans<\/a>. These plans will continue to be maintained as they exist today, but for certain new innovations and features you\u2019ll need a Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscription.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"committed-to-ai-privacy\">Committed to AI privacy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We recognize that our customers have questions about AI privacy, including how we train our AI models. Transparency is one of our six <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/ai\/responsible-ai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">responsible AI principles<\/a>, so we\u2019re sharing more details here.
