We are excited to announce the General Availability of adding a Power Virtual Agents chatbot in a Power Apps portal without any code. Adding a chatbot to your Power Apps portal can be achieved within a couple of clicks and easier than ever. Now you can make sure visitors to the site have the right support when needed!

The highlights include –

  • Adding a chatbot component just like any other component into a Power Apps Portal without any code.​
  • Easy to point to an existing chatbot or create a new chatbot directly in Power Virtual Agents.​
  • Experience a styled chatbot out of the box, that matches the Portal look and feel.​
  • Apply different Portals themes and the chatbot updates automatically.​
  • Chatbot widget is minimized by default and can be maximized/minimized.
  • Support for pro-code, advanced customization available if needed.

Easy entry point to add a chatbot in Power Apps portal Studio. Point to an existing bot or create a new one

Chatbot automatically matches Portal theme (out of box styling of chatbot)


Support for minimizing/maximizing chatbot control, with default minimized

Finally, you can do additional customization of the chatbot control using advanced configuration in the Power Apps portal management app.

You can now add a Power Virtual Agents chatbot to your Power Apps portal without any code, making it very easy to answer visitors’ questions on your portal page. This functionality is currently in Preview. During this preview, you can add an existing Power Virtual Agents chatbot to your Power Apps portal or create a new chatbot from within your portal.

How to get started?

Get started within the Power Apps portal designer by going to make.preview.powerapps.com.

Create a starter Portal by following documentation here: Create a Dataverse starter portal.

Once you have a portal created, you can easily add a bot from the same Dataverse environment by following a few quick steps:

  1. Select Components from the left pane.
  2. Select Chatbot component.
  3. Select your bot.

Power Virtual Agents enables anyone to create powerful chatbots using a guided, no-code graphical interface, without the need for data scientists or developers.

Once you’ve signed up for Power Virtual Agents here, you can get started with creating your very first bot. Watch this short video to see how easy it is to create your first bot, add topics, and test it.

 

Once you’ve created your bot topics and tested them out, you can publish the bot to make it available to anyone. Watch this short video to see how to publish to a demo website and to your own custom website, enabling anyone to chat with your bot.
