We are super excited to announce that Power Automate has launched brand new Cloud Flows designer which works natively with copilot (if available in your region and organization). The new designer provides a modern experience, is faster, and easier to use, with several features customers have been asking for.

Available worldwide already

  1. Robust handling of complex flows, wither faster save and load times.
  2. Multi line expression editor and ability to search for dynamic content in expression editor.
  3. Richer Run After Settings in Action Settings that allow you to express more business logic in the flow.
  4. Smaller action cards and zooming controls for greater visualization of large flows.

These are just a few of the features in the updated designer. The team continues to incorporate your feedback and iterate quickly, and we can’t wait to have additional enhancements available.

Coming soon

  1. Default connectors in Add an action pane – We are showing more relevant and top used connectors by default in Add an action pane, so that you can save time it takes to search for the connector that you are more likely to use.
  2. Keyboard shortcut (/) to invoke the token picker – With the new designer, the token picker/expression editor popup does not pop open automatically. This is to reduce distraction as makers type in action fields without having pop-ups open when they don’t need to insert tokens/expressions in the action. This however, does add a click when you do need to add a token/expression, because now you need to click on the blue skittles to pop open the token picker/expression editor. We are adding a keyboard shortcut to open the popup on demand. So as you are typing in action field, and need a token/expression, simply type ‘/’ in keyboard which will open a dropdown to invoke either the token picker to insert dynamic content or expression editor to insert expression.
  3. Point an action to run after execution of multiple parallel branches – If you want to execute ‘Compose 1’ action to run after execution of Condition action and ‘Compose’ action, you can simply navigate to the Run after settings of the ‘Compose 1’ action and set it to run after ‘Compose’ action on top of already selected Condition action.

This will restructure your flow such that Compose 1 runs after Condition and Compose action:
  4. Disable an action or set static (mock) outputs for an action – In the new designer, if you want to disable an action rather than remove it, navigate to Testing tab of the action and enable ‘Static Outputs’ and set it to 200 Succeeded. This essentially treats the action as successful without actually running the action. Similarly, if you want to see how your flow reacts if a certain action fails with a code/succeeds with a code, you can use the same capability of ‘Static outputs’ available on the action to mock the action execution to your needs.

5. Copy and paste an action.

More improvements will be coming soon like HTML view in email and Teams action, etc. Please stay tuned for more improvements being made in the new designer. Start using it today and provide us your feedback. Learn more here Understand the cloud flows designer – Power Automate | Microsoft Learn.

A new way to troubleshoot cloud flows – Trigger Outputs as identifier columns http://approjects.co.za/?big=en-us/power-platform/blog/power-automate/a-new-way-to-troubleshoot-cloud-flows-trigger-outputs-as-identifier-columns/ Tue, 27 Sep 2022 14:00:00 +0000 http://approjects.co.za/?big=en-us/power-platform/blog/power-automate/a-new-way-to-troubleshoot-cloud-flows-trigger-outputs-as-identifier-columns/ This new capability allows cloud flow authors to efficiently identify and troubleshoot flows by being able to view flow's trigger details in Flow Runs view.

We are really excited to introduce a new way to easily identify and troubleshoot a cloud flow. With this new capability, as a flow author, you can easily distinguish between flow runs with customizable columns in All Runs page and Flow Runs view in Flow Details page.

Use Case

Once you build a flow, and it starts automating your tasks, you might need to identify to confirm your flow instance ran as expected. Today, by default, a flow owner can look at the StartDuration, and Status columns in the run history view in Power Automate to help them identify the flow run they want to debug. The owner can also expand a flow run to debug inputs/outputs of different parts of the flow to pinpoint the flow run they want to debug. For a flow that runs frequently, the process of expanding each flow to audit input/output to identify the run to debug is time consuming.

How it works

To make it more efficient to identify flow runs when debugging, Power Automate provides the ability for flow owners to configure the list of columns that’s displayed on the run history page for each flow run. These columns map to the trigger outputs for your flow. When you display the columns you want, you save time since you will see the relevant columns by default on the run history view.

Follow these steps to add one or more columns to your run history view.

  1. Sign in to Power Automate.
  2. Select My flows from the left side of the screen.
  3. Select the flow for which you want to get more details.
  4. Select Edit columns on the flow details page.
  5. Select the columns that you want to add to your run history view for the flow that you’ve selected, and then select Save.

6. View the list of columns that displays on the run history view for the flow you’ve selected. Note that Urgent and Trigger date columns are now visible for the flow so that you can quickly see those values to help you pinpoint a flow run you are interested in and debug the flow.

In just a few steps, you were able to view how your flow triggered as identifier columns in your Flow Runs view to identify and troubleshoot your cloud flows more efficiently.

Note: You can also configure the list of columns for flow runs in All runs view.

Happy Automating!

Coming soon to makers everywhere: make.powerautomate.com http://approjects.co.za/?big=en-us/power-platform/blog/power-automate/flow-microsoft-com-is-moving-to-make-powerautomate-com/ Wed, 15 Jun 2022 15:00:00 +0000 http://approjects.co.za/?big=en-us/power-platform/blog/power-automate/flow-microsoft-com-is-moving-to-make-powerautomate-com/ We will soon be supporting a new URL for Power Automate: make.powerautomate.com. Read to learn about the change and troubleshoot access issues if you may encounter.

Summary

We’ll soon be using a new web address for signing in to and using Power Automate: https://flow.microsoft.com will become https://make.powerautomate.com. Don’t worry, after this change you can keep using all of your existing bookmarks and links: you will automatically be redirected to the new Power Automate URL when you try to visit the old URL.

We renamed Microsoft Flow to Power Automate in 2019, and we now have an updated URL that will further increase the reliability of your Power Automate experience, and more easily enable shared experiences across Power Platform in the future.

We have updated the following documentation to include the new URLs:

Note: We are releasing the URLs to the new sites at this time to make sure you can access the URLs and would not be blocked at the time of redirects, currently scheduled for end of June. After then, please file support tickets if you encounter any issues on the new URL that were not present on the old one.

What actions do I need to take?

You need to make sure that the new URLs are not blocked by your network so that they will work when the redirect occurs.

Here is the list of the new URLs that you need to make sure are not blocked by your network:

Existing Power Automate URLs

New Power Automate URLs (after redirection is enabled)

*.flow.microsoft.com

*.powerautomate.com

flow.microsoft.com

make.powerautomate.com

If you are a US Government customer:

gov.flow.microsoft.us

make.gov.powerautomate.us

high.flow.microsoft.us

make.high.powerautomate.us

flow.appsplatform.us

make.powerautomate.appsplatform.us

If you are a customer in China:

powerautomate.cn make.powerautomate.cn

Flow.microsoft.com has a red warning banner on it. What does that mean?

This means that while you are still able to access the old site, we have proactively detected your network configuration (for example: firewalls) blocking the redirects to the new URLs and this is a signal that you will be blocked when automatic redirect starts late June. Please work with your admins to unblock/allow the new IP address listed above as soon as possible. After addressing the network configuration issues, please verify that you can access the new URLs successfully on the same browser that can access the old URLs successfully.

Here is a quick note about two new capabilities we’ve released in the last few days based directly on feedback we’ve heard from you.

Restore Deleted Flows

We are really pleased to announce the capability to restore a flow (outside of a solution) with the latest version of the PowerApps Administration cmdlet.

As an admin, you can now use PowerShell to restore a flow you deleted or on behalf of someone in your company without having to file a support ticket with Microsoft.

Please navigate to this documentation walkthrough Restore deleted flows with PowerShell in Power Automate – Power Automate | Microsoft Docs to learn more.

Doubled Power Virtual Agent chatbot content coverage

Starting May, the Power Virtual Agents chatbot in the left navigation of the web site can answer even more of your questions! With this update, if the chatbot cannot find the answers to the questions you asked, it now provides a dropdown with all the topics and scenarios in Power Automate for you to get help from. Just choose a topic and a subtopic under it to find the relevant answers and documentation to your questions.

We hope you are able to get answers to all your How-to and Troubleshooting questions right in the PVA chatbot.

Please keep the feedback coming, and Happy Automating!

Power Automate Cloud Flows October Updates http://approjects.co.za/?big=en-us/power-platform/blog/power-automate/power-automate-cloud-flows-update/ Wed, 27 Oct 2021 16:00:00 +0000 http://approjects.co.za/?big=en-us/power-platform/blog/power-automate/power-automate-cloud-flows-update/ Announcing the availability of the Power Virtual Agent help bot across all of Power Automate and copy to clipboard support in solution flows.

The post Power Automate Cloud Flows October Updates appeared first on Microsoft Power Platform Blog.

]]>
We are happy to share with you some updates that have been shipped in the month of September and October for cloud flows. While we are making continuous investments in improving the overall cloud designer experience, new features and updates regarding Copy to Clipboard for solution flows and the Power Virtual Agent chatbot are added, as described below:

Power Virtual Agent Chat bot available across all pages in Power Automate

Power Virtual Agent Chat bot has been such a popular addition to Power Automate enabling users to ask questions in natural language to get help right in the product. The bot can answer your general questions like How do I share a flow or even specific questions like Why is my flow running slow. However, we have heard from you that locating the bot has been difficult and the bot did not appear at places you needed the most. With this change, the bot is made visible across all the pages in Power Automate (for e.g. Flow, Process Insights, AI Builder) and you can engage the bot from anywhere in the product.

Copy To Clipboard for solution flows

Copy to Clipboard is a really useful feature on the designer while you are building your flows, especially when you are creating control logic (for example switch, conditions) and wish to duplicate the actions or set of actions in branches easily.

The flow designer now has a streamlined experience for solution flows that enables copying and pasting actions for flows across solutions.
Non-solution flows

Today, after you have copied an action, it shows up on the clipboard automatically for non-solution flows.

Solution flows

Also for solution flows, the copied action shows up on the clipboard automatically if you are pasting the action in the same flow.

However, if you try to paste the action in a different flow in same solution or flow in an entirely different solution, an error will prevent you from doing so.

With the new updates, you can paste the action successfully. Note that you need to Control-v on windows or Command-v on Mac to paste the actions in the clipboard.

Before Control/Command + v:

After Control/Command +v:

We are really excited for you to try the new capabilities. Please submit your feedback on Power Automate Ideas – Power Platform Community (microsoft.com)
