We’re excited to introduce the Agent API for Power Pages, a new capability that enables site creators to build custom chat and other user experiences and integrate these seamlessly with their custom-built Microsoft Copilot Studio agents. This enhancement gives organizations more flexibility for integrating intelligence into their web experiences.

With the Agent API, you can design user experiences that align with your site’s user journeys while enabling agents to understand the context of the page and respond more effectively.

Bring intelligence directly into the web experience

The Agent API allows Power Pages sites to connect custom web chat or other user experiences with agents. Instead of relying solely on a standard chat interface, makers and developers can now create conversational experiences that are embedded directly into their site’s layout and workflows.

Animated Gif Image

The Agent API unlocks new ways to bring intelligent assistance into Power Pages sites:

  • Custom chat experiences – Design chat interactions that match your site’s branding and user experience instead of relying only on the default interface.
  • Context-aware conversations – Provide agents with information about the user’s current webpage or journey so responses can be more relevant and helpful.
  • Infuse intelligence beyond chat – The Agent API is not limited to building chat interfaces. You can use custom-built Copilot Studio agents to power intelligent capabilities across the site, such as summarizing content, helping users understand complex information, help users fill forms with AI intelligence, ask agents to execute tasks, and more.

Agents help deliver intelligent, conversational experiences for your site users directly within your websites. With the latest enhancements to agent integration in Power Pages, you now have more flexibility to configure authentication, manage access, and validate agent experiences more easily.

These updates simplify how agents built with Microsoft Copilot Studio integrate with Power Pages, making it easier to bring existing agents to your site while maintaining the access controls and authentication models your organization already uses.

Support for all authentication types available in Copilot Studio

Agents hosted in Power Pages now support all authentication types available in Microsoft Copilot Studio. This allows organizations to configure agent authentication in a way that aligns best with their existing identity and security requirements.

For example, agents can now use Microsoft Entra ID authentication, enabling organizations to securely connect agent conversations with authenticated users.

By supporting the full range of authentication options, Power Pages makes it easier to build secure, identity-aware agent experiences for both internal and external users.

Test agents directly from Copilot Studio

Agents integrated within Power Pages sites can now be tested directly from within Microsoft Copilot Studio.

This enhancement allows makers to validate agent conversations and authentication flows much more efficiently during development without needing to repeatedly switch between tools.

Bring your own Copilot Studio agent and control visibility with web roles

Power Pages now makes it easier to embed existing agents created in Microsoft Copilot Studio in your site.

You can add a custom agent to a Power Pages site and control which users can access the agent using Power Pages web roles. This enables you to manage agent availability in the same way they control access to other site content.

With web role-based visibility, you can ensure that the right users interact with the corresponding agents, whether the experience is intended for anonymous visitors, authenticated users, or specific user groups.

We are introducing two important enhancements to Web Application Firewall (WAF) in Microsoft Power Pages that make it easier to protect your sites and ensure production environments start secure by default.

With these enhancements:

  • WAF no longer requires a separate prerequisite configuration step
  • WAF is automatically enabled when converting trial sites to production
  • Admins can opt out during the conversion process
  • Improved security by default

Removing the WAF Prerequisite Dependency

Previously, administrators had to complete the Content Delivery Network (CDN) enablement step before they could enable WAF for a site. This prerequisite created friction and, in some cases, compliance challenges.

Now, WAF can be enabled directly without first enabling or configuring CDN.

WAF Enabled by Default During Trial to Production Conversion

Production environments should not rely on manual security activation. When a trial site is converted to a production site, WAF will now be enabled automatically as part of the conversion flow.

During the conversion process, administrators will see that WAF is being enabled and will have the option to opt out if they prefer to enable it later.

As Power Pages Server Logic progresses toward general availability, we’re expanding its capabilities to address real‑world scenarios while enabling faster logic development during preview.

Here is the quick look at what’s new.

Real-Time Data Access with Cache Bypass

One of the key challenges when building business-critical systems with Power Pages is ensuring access to the most real time data from Dataverse. While caching improves performance and scalability, some scenarios require guaranteed data freshness.

Power Pages Server Logic now allows developers to explicitly bypass the server-side cache when retrieving data from Dataverse, ensuring real-time reads for critical workflows.

⚠️ Skipping cache can impact performance, so use this capability selectively for critical workloads only.

Refer to the documentation for detailed guidance: Access Dataverse and website details with server objects

Support for Standard Data Model (SDM)

If you are running a Power Pages site built on the Standard Data Model (SDM), Server Logic is now fully supported for these sites.

Local debug support using Visual Studio Code desktop

To help validate and troubleshoot server logic during development, Power Pages now provides a lightweight local debugging experience in Visual Studio Code desktop.

With local debugging, developers can:

  • Set breakpoints and step through server logic
  • Inspect variables and execution flow
  • Validate logic without deploying changes to a live site

While the runtime environment is partially mocked, it significantly improves development velocity by enabling early validation and faster iteration before deployment.

Refer to the documentation for detailed guidance: Power Pages Server Logic Debugging Guide

We are happy to announce the new server logic feature in Power Pages to execute business logic securely on the server to build connected, compliant, and intelligent web experiences.

Forget the days of jumping through hoops to call external APIs, orchestrate complex actions or securely handle sensitive tasks. Server logic places real power behind your pages

Why Server Logic?

Modern websites do more than display content. Customers expect transactions, workflows, decisions and trusted data flows. Server logic turns Power Pages into a backend-enabled experience.

With server logic, makers can:

  • Connect to external services like ERP, CRM or banking systems
  • Run business workflows without exposing secrets in front-end code
  • Validate inputs and manipulate data on the server
  • Trigger actions based on site visitor interactions
  • Keep sensitive operations secure and compliant

How It Works

Server logic executes securely within the Power Pages infrastructure. Makers can author logic using JavaScript that run on the server-side whenever a page needs intelligence beyond what is available on the browser.

Key building blocks:

  • Server scripts: Write logic to call APIs, transform data, run workflows or reuse platform connections and policies.
  • Server objects: Use built-in modules that give you safe access to HTTP calls, Dataverse operations and more.
  • Event triggers: Invoke logic based on form submissions, button clicks or programmatic calls from client side.

Refer the Server logic documentation and quick starts for more details.

Secure External Integrations

Calling external services has always been high stakes: secrets, authentication, network policies. Server logic makes it straightforward and safe.

Examples:

  • Fetch loyalty points from a third-party rewards system
  • Validate user identity with government or industry standard verification APIs
  • Send loan application information to an internal banking engine
  • Push form submissions into a custom Azure service
Video demonstrating payment integration

On the road to General Availability

We are continuously expanding server logic feature. Enhancements planned ahead of GA include:

• Support for unbound Dataverse custom APIs
• Availability in sites running on Standard Data Model
• Invocation from Liquid objects

• Ability to retrieve real time data from Dataverse
• Server Logic playground with debugging support

We are looking forward to your feedback
