We are thrilled to announce that the Power Automate visual in Power BI has now reached General Availability (GA)! This is a significant milestone for Power Automate and Power BI users, as it enables them to streamline their workflow and gain valuable insights from their data in a more efficient way.

The Power Automate visual is a game-changer for end-users, as it allows them to seamlessly run automated flows directly within their Power BI reports. With the Power Automate visual, users can trigger flows by simply clicking a button right within their report, without the need to switch between tools. What’s more, the executed flow can be contextual, adapting dynamically based on the filters set by the end-user. This makes it a powerful tool for context-aware automation, allowing users to customize the flow to respond to specific data conditions.

This has been a popular feature and we have made some improvements based on your feedback, including the ability to easily change environments while building flows and new templates to kickstart your workflow creation journey directly from Power BI.

Environment picker

Get Started

To get started with the Power Automate visual, simply select the Power Automate icon from the Visualizations pane or add the visual from the ribbon. Once added, the visual appears on your current report page, you can easily change your environment from the visual.

To configure the button, select More options (…) > Edit. From edit mode, you can create a flow from scratch or a template, and easily manage your flows. Once you create the flow, you can add it to your dashboard and run it directly from there.

Simplify your work with Table rules in Microsoft Loop http://approjects.co.za/?big=en-us/power-platform/blog/power-automate/simplify-your-work-with-table-rules-in-microsoft-loop/ Tue, 05 Mar 2024 18:50:00 +0000 http://approjects.co.za/?big=en-us/power-platform/blog/power-automate/simplify-your-work-with-table-rules-in-microsoft-loop/ Microsoft Loop is a powerful productivity tool that enables collaborative work and flexible information organization. It provides teams with a shared workspace where they can create and collaborate on content such as notes, tasks, and files. Loop integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Power Automate, allowing users to automate repetitive tasks. By creating rules, you can trigger specific actions based on conditions, saving time and effort. For instance, you can set up a rule to send an email notification to your team whenever a new task is added to a project table in Loop. Overall, Loop enhances teamwork and streamlines communication by combining a shared workspace with automated workflows.

Do you want to better track team projects? With Loop, you can make rules that use Microsoft Power Automate to run tasks that take a lot of time and effort—so you can focus on more important and valuable work. Microsoft Loop is a new productivity tool that lets users work together and organize information flexibly. It helps teams collaborate better by giving them a shared workspace for creating and sharing content, such as notes, tasks, and files. You can also use Loop to run tasks automatically and save time, with its integration with Power Automate.

For example, you can easily manage your team’s projects with the Power Automate. You can simply create a rule to send an email to your team when a new task is added to a certain project table in Loop.

Getting started is easy. Every rule comprises three building blocks:

  • Trigger (“When this column…”)
  • Condition (“…has this value / changes in this way…”)
  • Action (“…then do this.”)

How it works

  1. Go to loop.microsoft.com.
  2. Select a table-based component in an existing Loop page or create one.
  3. Select the ellipses menu, and then select Table rules.
    Table rules
  4. Set your desired trigger, condition, and action, and then select Continue.
    New Rules
  5. Review the apps that your rule uses and select Next.
    Automate your rule connections page
  6. Add the recipients and select Create flow.
    Automate your rule parameters page

NOTE: Each automation rule in Loop corresponds to a flow in Power Automate. Limits on rule creation and execution will be determined by your Power Automate license.

Scenarios to try

    • Create an automation rule in Loop, and then update the trigger or condition.
    • Disable an existing rule, and then re-enable it.

Availability

  • All Microsoft 365 subscribers can use this feature.
  • Your organization’s DLP policy allows loop connectors.

Feedback

We’d love to hear your thoughts about this feature set. Send your feedback by selecting Help > Give feedback in the lower right area of your Loop app screen.

Excel is one of the world’s most popular data tools, used by hundreds of millions of people in every industry for both work and personal tasks. It offers innovative features for collaboration, ease of use, extensibility, and automation.

The new “Automate work” button in Excel Online, powered by Power Automate, has made it easier than ever to automate tasks and run processes efficiently from anywhere. This feature extends the capabilities of Power Automate by providing access to pre-built templates and allowing users to build workflows quickly and easily within Excel Online. This button replaces the “Automate a Task” button in Excel Online. Previously, the “Automate a Task” button allowed users to select templates for Office Scripts, and then take them to the Power Automate portal to build a flow. Now, with just a few clicks, you can automate repetitive tasks, reduce errors, and boost productivity, all without ever leaving Excel!

Getting started is easy! For instance, you can automatically capture customer feedback from emails and store it in an Excel Online worksheet using the “Monitor incoming emails to an alias in an Excel worksheet” template. With this template, businesses can keep track of customer feedback in one centralized location, making it easy to respond to customer needs and improve customer satisfaction. Experience the power of Excel and automation like never before!

The new “Automate work” button is only available in Excel Online and is coming soon to Desktop and Mac. The “Automate a Task” button is still available in Desktop and Mac.

Note: The “Automated Task” button is built into Excel, and is different from the Flow add-in. We look forward to expanding this experience based on your feedback!
