Generative AI has been brought to the forefront of low code development and we are thrilled to expand our Power Pages copilot capabilities to further transform the way developers build and launch business data-centric websites.

Accelerate development and drive innovation with copilot in Power Pages

Power Pages copilot in Design Studio

Now, all makers can use natural language to build websites using copilot in Power Pages. The interactive experience allows the maker to be in control; they simply describe what they want to build, pick from options, and Power Pages generates a sitemap and homepage with various layouts and site themes. The maker chooses from one of many generated layouts and creates a new site in a few seconds.

Power Pages copilot in Design Studio

Makers can refine and modify their website using copilot in the design studio. They describe to copilot the page they want to build, the section they want to add, or form they want to create. Copilot creates intelligent HTML layouts and themes including relevant text copy and placeholder images selected from a vast stock image library.

Generate multistep forms with copilot

Multistep forms are a powerful way to collect customer data for longer applications with numerous fields and questions.  With copilot in Power Pages, makers can effortlessly design and build intuitive multi-step forms using just a few words. The copilot experience simplifies the workflow into a couple of steps, providing makers with a significant productivity boost!

Power Pages chatbot for end users

Power Pages enables easy integration of a generative AI powered Power Virtual Agent chatbot on the website with minimal configuration. Now, the chatbot can answer questions from anonymous and authenticated pages on the site. Additionally, it can be tested on a private site before going live. Makers can effortlessly configure a copilot-style bot for website visitors which provides GPT-like responses to questions without detailed bot authoring. Bot responses are grounded in the website’s content with Power Pages role-based access control (RBAC) support for the responses.

In today’s fast-paced digital world, businesses are constantly seeking ways to improve efficiency and simplify processes. One area that has seen significant growth is digital agreement management, including e-signatures, that are crucial for various scenarios, such as onboarding, application submissions, and loan processing.

Microsoft Power Pages empowers organizations and governments around the world to rapidly launch services as external websites to collect, automate, and share critical business data securely with their customers, partners, and the constituents they serve.

Today, Microsoft announced new, seamless interoperability between Microsoft Power Pages and DocuSign available in public preview. Power Pages makers can now effortlessly create data-centric websites with document generation and e-signature capabilities that empower businesses to improve their agreement workflows.

Unlocking the power of low-code development

Low-code development has gained immense popularity because it minimizes the amount of traditional complex coding required to develop applications. Power Pages is an AI-first trusted low-code web development platform that accelerates customer’s digital transformation intensity by offering capabilities such as no-code, low-code, and code-first website development and governance tools backed by a world-class reliable, secure, compliant, and global hosting service. This new DocuSign interoperability enables Power Pages to take a significant leap forward with built-in document generation and e-signature functionality.

Seamless interoperability with DocuSign

“The Power Pages and DocuSign eSignature interoperability revolutionizes how businesses incorporate e-signatures into web applications and workflows, improving customer experiences across several industries. It is a testament to the continuous effort between Microsoft and DocuSign to make the entire process of agreeing smarter, easier, and more trusted for businesses.”

Marcello Majonchi, Vice President, Product Management at DocuSign

DocuSign is widely recognized for its electronic signature solutions that enable businesses to securely generate, sign, and manage documents digitally. With Power Pages interoperability, low-code makers can now leverage the full potential of DocuSign’s capabilities within their Power Pages websites in all commercial and US government sovereign clouds. Whether it’s signing terms of agreements, processing applications, or handling critical business data, the Power Pages and DocuSign interoperability offers a user-friendly and efficient workflow for incorporating e-signatures into multi-step forms through a low-code Studio experience.

Through the DocuSign connector-based Microsoft Power Automate flow, documents are generated for the website users who can view and sign documents. These components are configured through the new Integrations > External Apps tab in the Setup workspace. The out-of-the-box DocuSign Interoperability reduces the time required to create scenarios that capture users’ digital signatures, enabling makers to easily add e-signatures to their multi-step forms.

Using DocuSign interoperability in a Power Pages website requires three basic steps. Read the help topic for more information.

First, the site admin installs the DocuSign package from the Setup workspace.

Screenshot showing installing the DocuSign package to enable DocuSign interoperation.

Then, the site admin or maker configures Power Automate flows that are part of the package and resolves connection references. The maker also configures DocuSign templates (documents), maps it to a Microsoft Dataverse business data table, and optionally configures prefilled tabs (fields).

Screenshot showing mapping Power Pages to the DocuSign Template

Finally, the maker adds a form with a sub-grid associated to the business data table above. This step will require enabling e-signature in the newly introduced Integrations tab of a multi-step form in the Pages workspace. This configuration is shown in the images below.

Revolutionize your website building process with Copilot in Power Pages

Rev up your web development process with Copilot in Power Pages. Generate text, build detailed forms and chatbots—all in a matter of minutes. Leverage the power of natural language input and intelligent suggestions for unparalleled efficiency. Welcome to a new era of productivity with Copilot.

The power to transform simple descriptions into text content not only slashes your development time but also puts customizability at your fingertips. Adjust the message, tone, and length effortlessly with a click or specific instruction. It’s content creation, redefined.

Simplify your form building process using Copilot in Power Pages too. Just specify the form type, and Copilot will auto-generate tables in Microsoft Dataverse, creating the corresponding forms. You also have the flexibility to adjust, add, or fine-tune fields using natural language input. It’s a more streamlined approach to form creation.

Power Pages empowers site admins with the integration of Copilot chatbot activation. Seamlessly add a Power Virtual Agents chatbot with generative answers via a simplified experience within the setup workspace, streamlining your website management process. For your website visitors, this feature enhances their interaction with your site, allowing them to ask natural language questions and receive concise responses complete with relevant links to optimize both administrative functionality and website engagement experiences.

Copilot in Power Pages also has many upcoming AI capabilities—such as page creation, site theming, and image generation—launching in summer 2023.

Connect to data anywhere with virtual table and Power Automate integration in Power Pages

Announcing virtual table and Power Automate integration, now in public preview, helping developers build websites that connect to a wide variety of business data sources.

Developers now have the ability to trigger a Power Automate cloud flow from web page events. The cloud flows can integrate with external applications or automate their processes by utilizing more than 1,000 prebuilt and custom connectors available in Microsoft Power Platform. Virtual tables are tables in Dataverse that contain data from an external data source, such as SQL Server or SharePoint, without data replication. Virtual tables appear and behave like native Dataverse tables, allowing all studio data components to bind to the source. This allows developers to easily create rich websites connected to a virtual table.

Connect to data anywhere with Power Pages using Dataverse, virtual tables for SQL and SharePoint, and one thousand plus connectors through Power Automate cloud flows.

Learn more about external data integration in Power Pages.

Introducing developer websites for Power Pages

Power Pages provides ease of use and ease of mind to developers looking to build well-designed, customizable, and secure sites. It now supports developer environments with a special new type of site, which adds capabilities to not only enable developers to learn about Power Pages, but also use application lifecycle management (ALM) best practices to enable large teams to work together.

To help developers upskill in Power Pages, we are launching support for developer environments, which will now allow developers to create a new special type of site called developer websites. Developer websites do not have time-bound expiration dates like trials, so developers can freely develop and test Power Pages websites.

Allowing low-code makers to configure developer components helps large teams scale. Makers can now configure Power Apps component framework (PCF) code components in form fields and web pages from the design studio. Web templates help create custom page layouts and custom functionality. With this release, developers can now create a manifest that specifies which web template properties are editable in the low-code design studio. With these improvements, makers and developers can work together to customize and extend Power Pages sites.

We’re also enabling simplified Microsoft Power Platform solution-based ALM support, which will help users import and export website artifacts. With solution awareness for Power Pages, site configuration becomes portable, making it effortless to move a site and its components from one environment to another, thereby simplifying ALM for complex websites.

Helping administrators securely control website data

It has always been important that developers can depend on the enterprise-grade security of the Power Platform. That’s why we’re excited to share new capabilities in Power Pages that help administrators govern with more ease.

With this update, we are enabling a key data loss prevention (DLP) capability, which will allow Microsoft Power Platform admins to control if a website’s data is available anonymously. Using this governance control, admins can enforce a data policy (using a tenant setting) to block anonymous access in Power Pages and avoid accidental exposure of their organizational data. This capability will enable admins to govern the Power Pages websites created in their tenant more effectively.

All of these Power Pages feature enhancements will begin rolling out during Microsoft Build and throughout summer 2023, so stay tuned.

Power Pages: Low-Code Web Development with Sangya Singh
October 12, 2022 | 12:00 to 12:30PM PST

Here’s a topline view of what I’ll be announcing at Microsoft Ignite.

Design seamlessly with new low-code capabilities

The Design Studio enables makers to easily create modern, data-centric business websites for desktop or mobile without writing a single line of code. With new updates designed to support low-code and no-code solutions, makers can now effortlessly build multi-step forms that include document uploads with the Pages and Data Workspaces. Other updates include the ability to add custom CSS in the Styling Workspace.

This in-product screenshot shows the process of building multi-step forms that include document uploads with the Pages and Data workspaces in the Design Studio.

Choose from 16 new business solution templates

Within the Templates Hub, makers can pick from a range of responsive, customizable templates to jumpstart their website building journey—including 16 new business solution templates with patterns for processing building permits, managing after-school activity registrations, and managing client appointments. You can also extend Microsoft Dynamics 365 applications to your customers, partners, suppliers, and vendors with templates for customer self-service, community self-service, and partner relationship management.

Get up to speed with the new Tutorials section in Learn Hub

Makers can explore helpful training materials on Power Pages capabilities—from different perspectives and dimensions—directly in the Power Pages platform with Learn Hub. A newly added Tutorials section offers even more support to pro and citizen developers alike, including embedded How-To videos and documentation.

Extend your pages with advanced pro-developer tools

Go beyond low-code with advanced pro-developer capabilities that allow makers to fine-tune and extend their web pages as needed. New updates to pro-dev tooling include the integration of Power Pages Design Studio with Visual Studio (VS) Code Web. VS Code Web is a free, zero-install Microsoft Visual Studio Code experience entirely in your browser. This integration enables fusion team members to quickly and safely browse and edit source code for web page content (HTML and Liquid), web page-styles (CSS), and web page-scripts (JavaScript) and sync it back to the Design Studio. This allows for a seamless round-trip experience between Power Pages’ no-code Design Studio to the code-first VS Code Web.

This in-product screenshot shows new pro-developer tools including the integration of the Power Pages Design Studio with Visual Studio Code Web.

Gain enhanced security and governance

Building upon Power Pages’ secure and reliable platform, new security and governance updates include turnkey integration with Microsoft Azure Web Application Firewall, Content Delivery Network (CDN) support with Azure Front Door, and support for custom domains. A new go-live checklist simplifies site verification prior to going live, which provides total control over when the site becomes public.

This in-product screenshot shows how to set up site visibility with Power Pages to control who can see and interact with the website.

Power Pages licensing available as prepaid or pay-as-you-go

Power Pages subscription licensing is now based on monthly authenticated and anonymous users per website, making it easier than ever before to choose the right licensing options for your business needs. And with both prepaid and pay-as-you-go subscription options, you’ll have the flexibility to consider website seasonality, budgeting, and forecasting. Learn more about Power Pages licensing.

Seamless transitions for current Power Apps portals customers

Now that Power Pages is generally available, Power Apps portals makers can also leverage Power Pages’ low-code capabilities with access to the Design Studio, Learn Hub, and Templates Hub.
