But with great power, comes great responsibility. I\u2019m Merwan Hade, your friendly neighborhood Program Manager from the Microsoft Flow team and I\u2019m going to walk you through how you can quickly debug your flows so that you know just how awesome your new superpowers are.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s create a flow that sends an email whenever a new file is added to a Dropbox folder. To make things easier, you can just start from this <a href=\"https:\/\/flow.microsoft.com\/en-us\/galleries\/public\/templates\/277bd32b-4a28-474b-b6ec-f0e101cfe244\/\"><u>premade template<\/u><\/a>. \u00a0Once you open the page, click <strong>Use this template.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/superhero-debugging-1.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Enter your credentials and click <strong>Continue. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/superhero-debugging-2.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Now enter in a folder path for Dropbox (e.g. \/flowhere) and add a Body and recipients for your email.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/superhero-debugging-3.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Now that the flow has been authored, to see it in action, click <strong>Create Flow<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/superhero-debugging-4.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Once your flow is saved, to see it in action, perform the starting action. In this case, you\u2019re going to upload a file (e.g. Superhero.jpg) to the flowhere folder.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/superhero-debugging-5.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/superhero-debugging-6.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Notice how you can now see the results of your flow run. Click on an individual step to see its inputs and outputs.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/superhero-debugging-7.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Need to make a tweak? Simply click <strong>Edit Flow<\/strong> and make your changes. Ready for more action? Click<strong> Done. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/superhero-debugging-8.png\"\/><\/p>\n<h2>Debugging your flows<\/h2>\n<p>A few weeks later, you notice that you aren\u2019t getting any emails about files being uploaded to the flowhere folder in Dropbox. Something\u2019s wrong\u2026but never fear for Flow is here. Head on over to the <strong>My flows <\/strong>page to see your flow history. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/superhero-debugging-9.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Find your flow and click on the (i)<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/superhero-debugging-10.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Now select the last failed run to see exactly where it failed and why.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/superhero-debugging-11.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>This brings up a view with each step of the flow and where the failure occurred. In this case, you see an HTTP 404 telling you the specified folder doesn\u2019t exist.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/superhero-debugging-12.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>You head over to Dropbox and notice that the flowhere folder was in fact deleted and someone created a new folder called flowhereandnow with the same contents. Let\u2019s re-point our flow to this new folder. Head back to the <strong>My flows <\/strong>page, select your flow and click the <strong>Edit<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/superhero-debugging-13.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Enter in new folder path for Dropbox (\/flowhereandnow) and click <strong>Update flow. <\/strong>Problem solved.
