{"id":110896,"date":"2017-10-03T10:03:08","date_gmt":"2017-10-03T17:03:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/power-automate\/all-must-approve-and-onedrive\/"},"modified":"2017-10-03T10:03:08","modified_gmt":"2017-10-03T17:03:08","slug":"all-must-approve-and-onedrive","status":"publish","type":"power-automate","link":"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/power-automate\/all-must-approve-and-onedrive\/","title":{"rendered":"New option to require All approvers to sign off, and more connector actions"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Everyone must approve Approval type<\/h2>\n<p>Back in April we introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/flow.microsoft.com\/blog\/introducing-modern-approvals\/\">modern approvals<\/a>. With the built-in Approvals feature, you can send authenticated approval requests anyone in your organization. These approval requests support multiple people at once &#8211; but until now, the first response to the approval request &#8220;wins&#8221;. This means that if the first person to responds with <em>Approved<\/em>, the flow will continue and use that Approved value, irrespective of the opinions of the other approvers.<\/p>\n<p>However, there are some cases where you want\u00a0<em>all<\/em>\u00a0of the people who received the request to indicate their approval. To enable this, we have added a\u00a0<strong>Approval type<\/strong>\u00a0menu with two options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Anyone from the assigned list<\/strong> &#8211; This is the way approvals have worked in the past, with the first responder&#8217;s response taking precedence<\/li>\n<li><strong>Everyone from the assign list <\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0 This is how you can indicate that you want all of the responders to mark the request as Approved<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/all-must-approve-dropdown.png\" style=\"width: 423px; height: 171px;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>When you select\u00a0<strong>Everyone from the assigned list<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; the the action will wait for all responses. This means that if <em>any<\/em> person does not respond, then the action will &#8220;timeout&#8221;. You can configure a timeout from the<strong> &#8220;&#8230;&#8221; <\/strong>menu &#8212; by default it is 30 days, and then you will need to add an action that explictly handles that time out by using the\u00a0<strong>Configure run after<\/strong>\u00a0option in the &#8220;&#8230;&#8221; menu on that additional action.\u00a0Note that if any person rejects, the approval is immedately considered Rejected and will continue on to the next step.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This new approval type has additional outputs &#8212; for example, you can see the comments and responses of all of the approvers. One easy way to show these is using the\u00a0<strong>Create HTML Table<\/strong> action that can send a summary of the responses in an email:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/all-must-approve-responses.png\" style=\"width: 412px; height: 115px;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>We hope that you find this new approval type useful. If there is another type of approvals you&#8217;de be interested in, please suggest them <a href=\"https:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/fwlink\/?LinkId=787474&amp;clcid=0x409\">on our ideas forum<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>New actions in connectors<\/h2>\n<p>One of the most requested is the ability to generate PDF documents. If you store a file in OneDrive for Business &#8211; you can use the new\u00a0<strong style=\"font-size: 13.008px;\">Convert file\u00a0<\/strong>action. Just pass the ID or the Path of the file that you want to convert and you&#8217;ll get back PDF content that you can include in an Email attachment or just save back to your OneDrive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/all-must-approve-pdf.png\" style=\"width: 424px; height: 147px;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Other new actions in OneDrive for Business are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Upload a file from a URL<\/li>\n<li>Search for files in a folder<\/li>\n<li>Move or Rename files<\/li>\n<li>Create share links (as<a href=\"https:\/\/flow.microsoft.com\/blog\/download-history-recurrence\/\"> announced previously<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Second, there is a new <a href=\"https:\/\/flow.microsoft.com\/connectors\/shared_impala\/apache-impala\/\">Apache Impala<\/a> connector. Apache Impala (incubating) is the open source, native analytic database for Apache Hadoop. Connect to your Impala database to read data from tables. <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/connectors\/impala\/\" style=\"font-size: 13.008px;\">Go here<\/a> to see the documentation on this connector.<\/p>\n<p>Third, there is a new action in the Office 365 users connector to\u00a0<strong>Get relevant people<\/strong>. This returns back a list of the people that a given person works closely with.<\/p>\n<h2>Add a description to your flows<\/h2>\n<p>Finally, you can now give your flows descriptions, which is useful if you are sharing them inside of your organization and you want your co-workers to get a few more details about the flow before they run or edit it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/all-must-approve-description.png\" style=\"width: 515px; height: 208px;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>To add a descirption to a flow just select\u00a0<strong>Add a description<\/strong>\u00a0when you&#8217;re looking at the Flow details.
