Decentralized social technology collaboratory’s guiding principles
Our opportunity for success will be in bridging the gap between the high-potential but often unaccountable decentralized ecosystem predicated on blockchain tech, and the underlying promise of distribution of innovation, agency, and control that decentralization can enable. Towards that end, we are guided by the following principles:
Prioritize trust, safety and security for all
Goals: We will work with stakeholders in the ecosystem to develop a foundation of trust that prioritizes the security of users’ data and digital assets, and ensures safe user experiences, free of manipulation, misuse, and abuse.
Comply with existing regulation and influence policy in line with our principles
Goals: We will help to enable and develop Web3 and Web3-based technologies within existing regulatory frameworks and work with key stakeholders and regulators to positively influence new ones that help the use of these technologies flourish for all users and address the policy impact of their applications.
Support openness and interoperability
Goals: We will support the creation of a more open internet, built on common, agreed-upon standards, that empowers participants with ownership of their data and digital assets and interoperability across experiences.
Empower individuals and create a more equitable distribution of economic value
Goals: We will focus our efforts on empowering users with greater access and participation, and promoting more equitable economic value distribution between consumers, creators, and platforms.
Be environmentally sustainable
Goals: We strive to be net-zero or climate positive in our blockchain technology efforts and support initiatives that are most sustainable.
