Kashish Mittal is a Principal Research PM in the Technology for Emerging Markets group (TEM) at Microsoft Research India. His research involves designing citizen scale technologies towards the mission of empowering every person on the planet to achieve more. His current focus is on developing Digital Public Good (DPG) platforms using AI for large scale societal impact.

Kashish is a former Indian Administrative (IAS) officer with vast experience in building tech-led developmental initiatives in India. Some of the key transformations he brought about include end-to-end automation of Chandigarh Transport, adoption of the ‘e-district’ program and ‘National AI Policy’, and scaling the ‘Aspirational Districts Program’ and ‘Atal Innovation Mission’ while at NITI Aayog. He has been conferred with the ‘Best Urban Transport Model’ award by World Bank LUTP Program and ‘Best use of Technology’ award by the Election Commission of India.

He graduated with a B.Tech in Computer Science from IIT Delhi (2010) and is a noted Indian Classical Vocalist.
