Since January 2018, Oscar Koller is an applied scientist in Microsoft’s Speech and Language group.

His research interest span many topics across speech recognition, sign language recognition, sign language translation, sign language production and computer vision in general.

From 2011 till 2018, he was a doctoral student researcher in the Human Language Technology & Pattern Recognition Group led by Prof. Ney at RWTH Aachen University, Germany. He followed a dual supervision by Prof. Bowden and his Cognitive Vision group at University of Surrey, UK, where he spent 12 months as a visiting researcher. His main research interests include the areas of speech recognition, computer vision, sign language recognition, gesture recognition and lip reading.
