Raluca Stevenson

Senior Research Scientist

About

I am a senior research scientist based in the Microsoft Research Lab in Cambridge, UK. I’m part of the Game Intelligence group at Microsoft Research, led by Katja Hofmann, whose mission is to advance the state of the art in reinforcement learning, driven by current and future applications in video games.

I have completed my undergraduate studies in computer science, followed by a Masters degree in machine learning at UCL in London in 2017. During my Masters, I nurtured my interest in machine learning, taking on modules in computer vision, natural language processing, information retrieval, supervised learning, as well as applied machine learning and optimization. In my Masters thesis I focused on distributing the training of a computer vision learning algorithm using the Azure cloud technologies. My thesis was developed during a summer internship with the Health Intelligence Inner Eye group at Microsoft Research in Cambridge, UK. During my undergraduate studies, I have also taken a one year software engineering internship as part of the query formulation team within Microsoft Bing, in London.
