Sam Ade Jacobs is a Principal Researcher and Tech Lead at Microsoft. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Texas A&M University. His core R&D activities lie at the intersection of high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI). Sam’s current work is focused on developing system performance optimizations and algorithmic solutions that accelerate AI training, fine-tuning, and inference. His contributions have earned him nominations and awards at technical conferences, including being a finalist for the prestigious ACM Gordon Bell Special Prize. The technologies he has worked on are either open source or have been integrated into Microsoft’s AI products, which are used by millions of people daily. Sam has received numerous US and international patent awards and serves as a visiting scholar at Covenant University.
