Xin Ma is an Outreach Director at Microsoft Research Asia with 20-year professional and management experiences in talent cultivation, research collaboration, university/government relations, and program management. Xin has made fundamental contributions in the last two decades to Microsoft Research Asia as the owner of the highly acclaimed talent programs.
Xin currently oversees all the MSRA outreach programs in China, with a particular focus on defining the overall strategy and direction for the China team, as well as the new initiatives, including forming an AI education Committee to promote AI curriculum as part of the new engineering program led by the Ministry of Education in China, Open AI platform for research program with selected top universities, Microsoft China Diversity programs, the Elite PhD program with China Computer Federation, and the newly inaugurated Microsoft Research Asia Alumni Association.
Xin has been widely considered a female leader in the professional community and has served as the indispensable bridge for the lab with the academia in China and the alumni network. Inspired by Grace Hopper, Xin is a strong advocate of Diversity and Inclusion, especially on encouraging female talents into advanced studies in STEM, and has made tremendous impact in the region through programs such as Ada workshops and through her role as the chair of the Women’s Council in China Computer Federation, where she is an executive member.
