Nearly two thousand professors and university students from Beijing, Tianjin and nearby areas will gather at Tsinghua University for this grand event. As 2011 also observes the 100th anniversary of Tsinghua University, the thirteenth 21st CCC will be a very special academic event which will celebrate Tsinghua\u2019s centennial anniversary, providing a great platform for leading worldwide experts to share recent achievements in computing science research with Chinese students and scholars.\u00a0The conference aims to promote the development of computing research in China and across Asia.\r\n\r\nWith the theme of\u00a0\u201cFundamental Research \u2013 Computing in the 21st Century,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0this year\u2019s Conference will explore the important and fundamental role of research in the 21st century. Distinguished speakers will include\u00a0Turing<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0award winners, Professor Edmund M. Clarke, Professor Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, Professor Emmanuel Candes, and Professor Joseph Halpern. Speakers will also include Dr. Rick Rashid, Senior Vice President of Microsoft Corporation and Dr. Hsiao-Wuen Hon, Managing Director of Microsoft Research Asia. Dr. Peter Lee, Managing Director of Microsoft Research in Redmond will moderate a panel discussion among world-renowned research leaders who will talk about the challenges and opportunities that fundamental research brings to China.\r\n\r\nOver the past 13 years, Microsoft Research Asia has been committed to strong collaboration with academia to cultivate talents for IT and related industries. Computing in the 21st Century is an academic conference organized by Microsoft Research Asia and has become one of the biggest and most influential conferences in computing science education and research field in the region. The previous 12 sessions have been great successes and welcomed Turing Award winners, Microsoft scientists, and well-known scholars from all over the world to give keynote speeches and exchange ideas with the top minds from China and other parts of Asia.
