This past year, people across the globe experienced a rapid shift to remote work that upended their existing practices and will have long-term implications for how work gets done in the future. At the start of the pandemic, researchers from across Microsoft formed an ongoing cross-company initiative to coordinate efforts with the goal of understanding the impact of remote work and identifying opportunities to support new working practices. This report provides a synthesis of the findings from more than fifty research projects and may well represent the largest compilation of research related to the pandemic’s impact on work practices available to date. Come hear Microsoft researchers consider how the future of work will change as we move to hybrid collaborations, new ways of working together.

[/panel][/accordion]
22:00 – 02:00 | Workshop 18 (Part 1)

Adaptive Accessible AR/VR Systems

Pradipta Biswas, Pilar Orero, Manohar Swaminathan, Kavita Krishnaswamy, Peter Robinson

Workshop 18 (Part 2): May 8

Workshop 18 (Part 3): May 9

22:00 – 02:00 | Workshop 18 (Part 2)

Adaptive Accessible AR/VR Systems

Pradipta Biswas, Pilar Orero, Manohar Swaminathan, Kavita Krishnaswamy, Peter Robinson

Workshop 18 (Part 1): May 7

Workshop 18 (Part 3): May 9

13:00 – 17:00 | Workshop 39

From the Margins to the Centre: Defining New Mission and Vision for HCI Research in South Asia

Pranjal Jain, Samia Ibtasam, Sumita Sharma, Nilavra Bhattacharya, Anupriya Tuli, Dilrukshi Gamage, Dhruv Jain, Rucha Tulaskar, Priyank Chandra, Lubna Razaq,Rahat Jahangir Rony, Deepak Ranjan Padhi, Mohit Jain, Suleman Shahid, Nova Ahmed, Devanuj Kanta Balkrishan, Pushpendra Singh

22:00 – 02:00 | Workshop 18 (Part 3)

Adaptive Accessible AR/VR Systems

Pradipta Biswas, Pilar Orero, Manohar Swaminathan, Kavita Krishnaswamy, Peter Robinson

Workshop 18 (Part 1): May 7

Workshop 18 (Part 2): May 8

22:00 – 02:00 | Workshop 42

“This Seems to Work”: Designing Technological Systems with The Algorithmic Imaginations of Those Who Labor

Lindsey Cameron, Angele Christin, Michael Ann DeVito, Tawanna Dillahunt, Madeleine Elish, Mary Gray, Rida Qadri, Noopur Raval, Melissa Valentine, Elizabeth Anne Watkins

08:00 – 10:00 | Paper: Accessible Content Creation -
