Our mission

The mission of the Enable Experiences Group is to improve the lives of people living with severe disabilities involving speech, mobility, communication, and expression.

We believe in the power of user-centered, participatory design. We believe that combining community, compassion, and commitment to a higher purpose with creative applications of technology and design to help break down barriers erected by disease and disability.

To achieve real impact, we create new applications and services, hardware prototypes, and software libraries. We are deliberate in sharing all the work we do, so that others can use and build on what we have started to create sustainable impact for the communities we serve.

Our focus

We focus on designing novel assistive and accessible technologies with the goal of ensuring everyone, including those living with extreme constraints, has access to creative pursuits, personal expression, and meaningful human connection with others.

Our collaborations

We bring people of different abilities together with researchers, designers and partner organizations, and through these relationships and partnerships, identify current challenges and develop new innovations and solutions. Together we empower people to explore and immerse themselves in creative and fun activities of their choice, independently and with confidence.

Game projects and experiences

We created Eyes First games to help people with speech and mobility disabilities to learn eye tracking skills in an easy and fun way. The games are powered by Windows 10 eye tracking APIs and can be used with or without Windows 10 Eye Control, a key accessibility feature for people with speech and mobility disabilities. Learn more about Windows 10 Eye Control and Windows eye tracking APIs in this Windows Blog (opens in new tab).

Microsoft games

Eyes First games are popular games reinvented for an “Eyes First” experience. The primary purpose of the Eyes First games is to introduce the basic skills of using Eye Tracking devices. This is especially useful for people who haven’t used these devices before or haven’t reached a point where they depend on an eye tracker for communication.

Music projects and experiences

We believe in the power of music to connect, transform, and nurture the human spirit—and we reject the notion that making music, performing live, playing instruments, expressing oneself through sound, and communing creatively with others are the exclusive domain of the able-bodied.

With hands-free music, we aim to restore, redefine and reinvent the music-making experience for people who are affected by speech and mobility disabilities. Explore hands-free music from Microsoft and our collaborators.
