In order to answer factoid questions, the
\nWebclopedia QA system employs a
\nrange of knowledge resources. These
\ninclude a QA Typology with answer
\npatterns, WordNet, information about
\ntypical numerical answer ranges, and
\nsemantic relations identified by a robust
\nparser, to filter out likely-looking but
\nwrong candidate answers. This paper
\ndescribes the knowledge resources and
