In the past decade, goal-oriented spoken
\ndialogue systems have been the most
\nprominent component in today\u2019s virtual
\npersonal assistants. The classic dialogue
\nsystems have rather complex and\/or modular
\npipelines. The advance of deep learning
\ntechnologies has recently risen the applications
\nof neural models to dialogue
\nmodeling. However, how to successfully
\napply deep learning based approaches to
\na dialogue system is still challenging.
\nHence, this tutorial is designed to focus on
\nan overview of the dialogue system development
\nwhile describing most recent research
\nfor building dialogue systems and
\nsummarizing the challenges, in order to
\nallow researchers to study the potential
\nimprovements of the state-of-the-art dialogue
