When interaction is tightly and appropriately coupled with visualization, it can transform the visualization from displaying static imageries to assisting comprehensive analysis of data at all scales.  In this relationship, a deeper understanding of the role of interaction, its effects, and how visualization relates to interaction is necessary for designing systems in which the two components complement each other.<\/p>\n<p>In this talk, I will be presenting various examples on the different aspects of this relationship.  The three main areas that I will focus on are: interactive urban visualization and analysis, application of interaction techniques in coordinated visualizations, and capturing and storing interactions (provenance) in visualization for the purpose of understanding a user&#8217;s analysis process.
