From our vantage point, one could easily assume that the Internet fol\u00aclowed a deliberate, highly rational, and even obvious path from its be\u00acginnings to today\u2019s dominant networking technology. This talk will ex\u00acplore the unintended consequences of this and perhaps any major technological advance. What are the differences in conceptualization, anticipation, and realization of a technology, and how do those differences affect its ultimate imple\u00acmentation and adoption in the marketplace? How does the way tech\u00acnology is funded, evaluated, and invented affect the eventual outcome?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
