The goal of this project is to detect events (e.g., sports, weather, protests, shootings, etc.) that happen in a small area and time frame by using tweets. We automatically look for places where there is a sudden spike in the number of tweets. Our artificial intelligence decides which of these spikes is an actual local event, and it works with about 80% accuracy.
