Applications are then peer reviewed and a number of projects selected for funding. PhD students are appointed to the selected projects and begin their research in the following academic year under the supervision of their academic supervisor, with co-supervision from a researcher at Microsoft Research Cambridge. Some of the PhD students may also be offered\u2014at the sole discretion of Microsoft Research\u2014an internship in one of the Microsoft Research laboratories. Get further details on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/research\/careers\/\">Microsoft Research careers page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For an application to be considered, the following key requirements apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The institute agrees to the terms and conditions in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/research\/uploads\/prod\/2016\/04\/PhD-Term-Sheet-September-2017.pdf\">PhD Term Sheet<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/research\/uploads\/prod\/2016\/04\/EPSRC-Term-Sheet-Industrial-CASE-September-2017.pdf\">EPSRC Term Sheet<\/a> where appropriate.
