Microsoft is ensuring that customers can remain compliant with the current changes in guidance for using strong cryptography for implementing security control. A number of known vulnerabilities has been reported against SSL and earlier versions of TLS which has changed the security guidance to move to TLS 1.2 for support secure communication.<\/p>\n
There has been no known vulnerability that has been reported for Microsoft’s TDS implementation which is the communication protocol used between SQL Server clients and the SQL Server database engine.<\/p>\n
As of January 29, Microsoft SQL Server supports TLS 1.2 for SQL Server 2008<\/strong>, SQL Server 2008 R2<\/strong>, SQL Server 2012<\/strong> and SQL Server 2014<\/strong> and major client drivers like Server Native Client<\/strong>, Microsoft ODBC Driver for SQL Server<\/strong>, Microsoft JDBC Driver for SQL Server<\/strong> and ADO.NET (SqlClient)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n You can read more about the release here<\/a>.
