SQL Server was recently named DBMS of the Year by DB-Engines. DB-Engines is an initiative to collect and present information on database management systems, and provides a widely accepted popularity ranking of database management systems, and has been created and maintained by solid IT, an Austrian company with a special focus on database consulting and software development. In their award announcement<\/a> recognizing SQL Server as the DBMS gaining the most popularity in 2016, DB-Engines cites the \u201crelease of SQL Server 2016 and the announcement to port SQL Server to Linux\u201d and also highlights SQL Server\u2019s strength in their ranking categories of job offers, LinkedIn profiles, and other ranking components<\/a>.\"SQL-Server-DBMS.png\"<\/a><\/p>\n
