SQL Operations Studio is a data management tool that enables you to work with SQL Server, Azure SQL DB, and SQL DW from Windows, macOS, and Linux. If you missed the December release announcement, you can learn more on the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.technet.microsoft.com\/dataplatforminsider\/2017\/12\/19\/the-december-release-of-sql-operations-studio-is-now-available\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SQL Server blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The January release includes several major repo updates and feature releases, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enable the HotExit feature to automatically reopen unsaved files.<\/li>\n<li>Add the ability to access saved connections from Connection Dialog.<\/li>\n<li>Set the SQL editor tab color to match the Server Group color.<\/li>\n<li>Fix the broken Run Current Query command.<\/li>\n<li>Fix the broken pinned Windows Start Menu icon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For a complete list of updates, please refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/sql\/sql-operations-studio\/release-notes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">release notes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>HotExit feature<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sql-server\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/hotexit_thumb.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px currentcolor\" title=\"hotexit\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sql-server\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/hotexit_thumb.gif\" alt=\"hotexit\" width=\"750\" height=\"382\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A highly requested feature for SQL Operations Studio is to remember unsaved changes when the program is exited, <a href=\"https:\/\/code.visualstudio.com\/docs\/editor\/codebasics#_hot-exit\">similar to VSCode <\/a>and other editors. We are excited to announce that <strong>HotExit<\/strong> has been enabled as demonstrated in the GIF above. SQLQuery2 represents an unsaved query, and the user can quit SQL Operations Studio and simply reload it again to retain the unsaved query.<\/p>\n<p>This feature is not enabled by default. To enable HotExit by default, go to Settings with<strong> Ctrl +<\/strong> , and\u00a0 copy &#8220;files.hotExit&#8221;: &#8220;onExit&#8221; into your settings.<\/p>\n<h2>Saved connections available in Connection Dialog<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sql-server\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/saved-connections_thumb.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px currentcolor\" title=\"saved-connections\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sql-server\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/saved-connections_thumb.png\" alt=\"saved-connections\" width=\"488\" height=\"416\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Connection Dialog now contains a \u201cSaved Connections\u201d tab next to \u201cRecent Connections\u201d. This contains a list of saved server connections from the server\u2019s \u201cObject Explorer\u201d viewlet, as well as the Server Group.<\/p>\n<h2>SQL editor tab color to match Server Group color<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sql-server\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/sql-editor-tab-color_thumb.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px currentcolor\" title=\"sql-editor-tab-color\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sql-server\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/sql-editor-tab-color_thumb.png\" alt=\"sql-editor-tab-color\" width=\"1003\" height=\"442\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>SQL query editor and dashboard windows will have the same color as the Server Group used to open the window. This feature is not enabled by default.
