Hortonworks and Yahoo! kicked of the sixth annual <\/span>Hadoop Summit<\/span> yesterday in San Jose, the leading conference for the Apache Hadoop community. We\u2019ve been on the ground discussing our big data strategy with attendees and showcasing HDInsight Service, our Hadoop-based distribution for Windows Azure, as well as our latest business intelligence (BI) tools. This morning, Microsoft Corporate Vice President, Quentin Clark will deliver a presentation on \u201cReaching a Billion Users with Hadoop<\/i>\u201d where he will discuss how Microsoft is simplifying data management for customers across all types of platforms. You can tune in live at 8:30 AM PT.<\/span><\/p>\n Another Microsoft partner, Simba Technologies, also announced yesterday that it will provide Open Database Connectively (ODBC) access to Windows Azure HDInsight, Microsoft\u2019s 100% Apache compatible Hadoop distribution. Simba\u2019s Apache Hive ODBC Driver with SQL Connector provides customers easy access to their data for BI and analytics using the SQL-based application of their choice. <\/a>Hortonworks also made an announcement this morning that aligns well with our goal to continue to simplify Hadoop for the enterprise.\u00a0 They announced that they will develop management packs for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager and Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager that will manage and monitor the <\/span>Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP)<\/span><\/a>. With these management packs, customers will be able to monitor and manage HDP from System Center Operations Manager alongside existing data center deployments, and manage HDP from System Center Virtual Machine Manager in virtual and cloud infrastructure deployments.<\/span><\/p>\n
