Big Data is the term used to describe the process of applying serious computing power – the latest in machine learning and artificial intelligence – to massive and often highly complex sets of information. What kind of information? You name it. With big data you can compare utility costs with meteorological data to spot trends and inefficiencies. You can also compare big data ambulance GPS information with hospital records on patient outcomes to determine the correlation between response time and recovery rates.

To help you better understand the impact of big data, Microsoft has recorded an exclusive webcast briefing, Tools to Turn Emergencies into Knowledge, produced in association with CIO Magazine.

In this moderated discussion, featuring Jim Mallon, Executive Digital Director of Enterprise Solutions Group at IDG, Eron Kelly, General Manager of SQL Server Marketing at Microsoft, and Paul Henderson, Head of Business and Clinical Intelligence at Ascribe, you’ll hear about the Data Science process that underlies today’s quest for insight from data, and how an integrated data platform is key to success. While this webcast focuses on a healthcare-related case study, the conclusions it draws are relevant to all industries and verticals – just like the Data Science process itself.
