{"id":25684,"date":"2018-12-10T15:35:21","date_gmt":"2018-12-10T23:35:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sql-server\/blog\/?p=25684"},"modified":"2024-01-22T22:51:20","modified_gmt":"2024-01-23T06:51:20","slug":"announcing-sql-server-2019-community-technology-preview-2-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sql-server\/blog\/2018\/12\/10\/announcing-sql-server-2019-community-technology-preview-2-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcing SQL Server 2019 community technology preview 2.2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In September we <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sql-server\/blog\/2018\/09\/24\/sql-server-2019-preview-combines-sql-server-and-apache-spark-to-create-a-unified-data-platform\/\">announced SQL Server 2019 preview<\/a>, the first release of SQL Server to create a unified data platform by packaging Apache Spark<span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;line-height: 107%;font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;font-size: 11pt\"><sup>TM<\/sup><\/span> <\/span> and Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) together with SQL Server as a single, integrated solution.\u00a0 SQL Server 2019 promises to simplify big data analytics for SQL Server users, break down data silos using data virtualization, and provide industry-leading performance and advanced security for your mission-critical applications. <strong>Today, Microsoft is now pleased to announce SQL Server 2019 community technology preview 2.2, the third in a monthly cadence of preview releases.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This preview brings the following new features and capabilities to SQL Server 2019:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Customers can now use SparkR from Azure Data Studio on a <a href=\"https:\/\/review.docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sql\/sql-server\/what-s-new-in-sql-server-ver15?view=sql-server-ver15&amp;branch=release-sqlseattle#bigdatacluster\">big data cluster<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Customers can use UTF-8 character encoding with <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sql\/relational-databases\/replication\/sql-server-replication?view=sql-server-ver15\">SQL Server Replication<\/a>.
