It has been determined that a certificate error can occur resulting in the inability to start or connect to virtual machines running on Windows Server 2008 or Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008.&nbsp; The Hyper-V virtualization host and the existing virtual machines will continue to operate without disruption.&nbsp; A hotfix designed to prevent\/resolve this error has been created and is available for download starting today.&nbsp; The following is a brief description of the issue as well as a link to the KB Article that provides the resolution.&nbsp; Even if you are not currently experiencing this issue, we recommend you download and install this update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>THIS APPLIES TO THE FOLLOWING:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Windows Server 2008, Standard (Hyper-V role enabled)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Windows Server 2008, Enterprise (Hyper-V role enabled)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Windows Server 2008, Datacenter (Hyper-V role enabled)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SYMPTOMS AND RESOLUTION:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You may be unable to start or connect to virtual machines running on Windows Server 2008 or Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008. This occurs when connecting using vmconnect. Connections made using remote desktop won\u2019t be affected.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>KB Article\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;967902\">967902<\/a>\u00a0has been created that details the symptoms and resolution.\u00a0 This KB article provides a direct link to download the quickfix to resolve this error.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT NOTES:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Though this error may occur, the Hyper-V service will continue to operate.\u00a0\u00a0 Neither the Hyper-V host nor the running virtual machines will go offline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is not expected that this issue can be exploited for malicious purposes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Customers running Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V beta won\u2019t experience this error.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For those of you who\u2019ve enabled the Hyper-V role in WS08.
