Azure evangelist, Lyle Dodge, talks with Bharath Nimmala, Service Engineer 2 in the Microsoft Devices Supply Chain Engineering organization.

In this video, Bharath will talk about how the Supply Chain engineering team uses Azure Log Analytics as its monitoring and telemetry platform across all its software components in Azure as well as how it invests in its on-premise System Center Operations Manager telemetry.

The team uses the out of box connectors for the Azure components and has built a few custom connectors for its code in Azure Functions to send telemetry through a pipeline that consists of everything from Event Hubs to Application Insights to Azure Log Analytics.

Bharath will then show us an example of the advanced dashboards that can be built on the Azure Portal using the Azure Log Analytics out of the box reporting by bringing up a dashboard the team built for the 2017 holiday sales season.

From there, Bharath will drill down into one of the dashboards to show a micro service view that the team has built for one of the specific services, DeliveryOrder; this view helps the team track deliveries in the supply chain pipeline as they are flowing through to fill customer orders.

Bharath will also demonstrate how the team uses built in alert configuration in the portal and then finishes up his demo by pinning one of the Azure Log Analytics reports to an existing dashboard.
