Message from President
Microsoft has development centers in many countries around the world including in America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. MSD (Microsoft Development) was historically the first Microsoft development center outside of the US and has a rich history of developing key products and services such as Windows and Bing locally, while having close ties with the global development centers, including the main campus in Redmond, USA.
Windows is the most widely used PC OS on the planet and continues to run huge numbers of partner software and customer applications daily. As a result, we have a commitment to continue to provide a robust and secure experience. This is especially true since the release of Windows 10, as we do not only offer our OS solely as a product, but also "Windows as a Service" to constantly add new feature and improve our customers’ experience. Components developed by MSD engineers are key parts of this effort and are used around the world.
As the data flowing on global networks grows exponentially and countless documents are created on the Web every day, the importance of search engines is ever increasing. By using the latest machine learning techniques, we continuously strive to improve search accuracy of Bing. In the future, demand for a new generation of search engines will only continue to increase, and we will see the rise of AI providing a customizable experience for search users.
Microsoft's mission "Empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more." is at the core MSD's foundation. While located in Japan, our team believes that our products and features should not be made only for the Japan market but for the global market - all our engineers share this vision and continue to face new challenges every day.
The world is running on software. The software we create in MSD has filled every corner of the social infrastructure and has become a platform to move the world. This trend will continue to the future and will accelerate more and more.
We hope that more people will join us to shape the world with software, continuously seeking innovation, cooperating with members with diverse backgrounds and bringing real innovation to the world. Only when our peers respect each other's diverse values, can we work effectively and productively. We want to cultivate those qualities in all our future collaborators and peers and equip you with an overflowing fighting spirit.
I have faced various challenges in my career as a software engineer at Microsoft. Each time, I was able to rely on confidence of my management and the strength and support of my teammates to overcome them. Such opportunities are plenty in MSD. Microsoft は、アメリカ、ヨーロッパ、アジア、中東など、世界各国に開発の拠点を置いています。MSD (マイクロソフトデベロップメント）はMicrosoftの歴史の中でも、アメリカ以外に拠点を置いた初の国際開発センターであり、Redmond本社を含めて全世界の開発センターと共に協力し、WindowsやBingなど様々な製品とサービスをローカルに提供してきました。
Windowsは地球上で最も多く利用されてきた OS であり、日々莫大な数のパートナーソフトウェア、お客様のアプリケーションを動かし続けています。その結果、私たちは安全なエクスペリエンスを提供し続けることを約束しています。特にWindows１０のリリース以降から、私たちの OS は単に製品として提供するのではなく、常に最新の機能を加えてお客様にとっての利便性を改善するための「サービス」として提供していく、” Windows as a Service” というコンセプトになりました。MSDエンジニアが開発を担い、このコンセプトを実現したものも、世界中で使用されています。
