Maps SDK
a Bing Maps API
Available on
One powerful way to bridge the gap between real and digital spaces is mapping. Mixed Reality technology provides richer and more detailed maps for people.
Maps SDK, a Microsoft Garage project, empowers new and seasoned developers to incorporate 3D world data from Bing Maps into Unity based Mixed Reality experiences with ease. To get started, simply drag Maps SDK into a Unity scene! Leveraging developer-friendly controls, adding maps, geo-anchored content, panning/zooming/navigation is made easy, allowing developers to focus on creating their ideal app experience. With the SDK, not only can you explore the New York skyline, or view the Grand Canyon in mixed reality, and also interact with it like never before.
Features include:
- Drag-and-drop Unity integration
- An adjustable “Tabletop” map tool
- Stream and render 3D terrain data with ease
- Import custom terrain or buildings to overlay on-top of existing map content
- Configurable city and location labels
An example of what you can do with the Maps SDK is the Outings, a Microsoft Garage project Mixed Reality demo, which supports both Windows Mixed Reality and HoloLens.
