Interoperability

Interoperability allows disparate information systems from multiple vendors to readily work together and exchange data. It enables valuable business connections, whether across processes, between people and information, or among companies in a value chain. Providing Interoperability helps customers decrease complexity and better manage heterogeneous environments—while enhancing choice and innovation in the market.

Microsoft has made—and continues to make—broad-ranging changes to our technology and business practices that promote greater interoperability. Our approach includes delivering interoperability in our products and technologies; collaborating with customers, partners, and competitors; supporting and developing industry standards; and providing developer resources and access to Microsoft intellectual property (IP). For partners and developers, our interoperability efforts provide access to the technology and tools that help create solutions to customers’ interoperability needs while enhancing market opportunities.
