Theory research has been the foundation and the driving force for the advancement of computer science and technology. The rapid technological development in the new era of big data and artificial intelligence, such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, trustworthy computing, and high-dimensional scientific computing, data-driven optimization are raising new challenges and demanding new support from the theoretical foundations. To meet these challenges, we would like to organize 2021 MSRA Theory Workshop by inviting theory researchers to come together exchanging latest research results and discussing theory research in the big data era.
At the same time, we are establishing MSR Asia Theory Center (opens in new tab) to utilize the collective wisdom of our researchers to tackle fundamental theory problems and strengthen the theory collaborations with the academia. The Inauguration Ceremony of the MSRA Theory Center will be held along with the 2021 MSRA Theory Workshop. The ceremony and the workshop feature keynote speeches by Prof. John Hopcroft (Turing Award Winner) and Prof. Terry Lyons (Fellow of Royal Society), a panel discussion and a number of technical talks. We hope to connect theory researchers together and foster more innovative research in the future.
