To mark the 30th anniversary of Microsoft Research, Eric Horvitz, Chief Scientific Officer, co-moderates a series of panel discussions on the “Generations of Inspirational and Impactful Research”. The panelists, comprised of current and past Microsoft Research Scientists and Engineers from around the world, share their reflections and perspectives on topics that are important for the vibrancy creativity and impact of research efforts.

This panel, co-moderated with Jenna Wiens from the University of Michigan, explores the magic that only collaboration can bring to science and technology. The best and most impactful research at Microsoft Research has been accomplished with external and internal collaborators—where passionate researchers openly leverage one another’s talents and expertise. We discuss the many opportunities and challenges that come from collaboration as well as key learnings along the way.
