AI Forum 2023 | AI for Neurodiverse Society
Neurodiversity refers to the concept of recognizing cognitive differences originating from the brain and nervous system, including developmental disorders, as diversity rather than superiority or inferiority. It emphasizes mutual respect for these differences. Our research group has been working on the development of AI systems that visualize cognitive characteristics to foster a neurodiverse society. We aim to constructively understand the neural modulations that lead to diverse perceptions and actions through neural networks and, furthermore, to promote self-awareness and reduce stigmatization by visualizing cognitive processes using robots and VR systems. In this talk, I will discuss the principles of human intelligence and development revealed by the latest AI research and our efforts for societal contributions based on this knowledge.
