The central theme of the 2008 Summit was “Innovate Together.” The Asia Faculty Summit highlights the successful collaboration between Microsoft Research Asia and universities, and it draws attention to the collaboration of computer scientists with other disciplines, a worldwide trend that is broadening computer science’s impact to academia and society.
Beijing, China – November 3, 2008
The annual summit, since its launch in year 2000, has enjoyed tremendous popularity and has become The Meeting Place for the brightest minds in computer science in Asia and beyond Asia. In 2008, we welcomed more than 200 influential researchers from 60 universities or research institutes to the summit.
In addition to the summit, some also chose to participate in the “Computing in the 21st Century” Conference on November 4. It provided an opportunity to meet thousands of students from top universities. Several Turing Award Winners delivered inspiring speeches to those future stars in computer science, while senior researchers from Microsoft Research Asia showcased their leading-edge research results.
