Research Intern for Heterogeneous Extreme Computing Group

Date Posted: July 20, 2024

Number of Openings: 2-4

Location: Beijing/Shanghai

Group Introduction:

In the era of large models, computer systems are evolving towards greater scale, distribution, and intelligence, forming a pervasive computing platform that integrates cloud and user devices. This allows users to access intelligent services from anywhere in anytime. The HEX Group is dedicated to researching and advancing this pervasive computing system, enhancing the mutual perception and continuous evolution of intelligence. This includes research on AI inference and training systems, novel AI algorithms, and new AI hardware.

The research achievements of HEX group have been published in top system and AI conferences, including ASPLOS, ISCA, MobiCom, MobiSys, OSDI, SC, PPoPP, NSDI, ACL, and ICCV. They have also been selected for MobiSys Best Paper, PPoPP Best Paper, ACM SigMobile Research Highlight, and Microsoft Research Focus. Their technologies have been transferred to key products such as Office, Bing, Teams, and Azure.

We welcome students interested in AI systems and algorithm research to join us and conduct research in the following areas:

  • Large models inference systems for diverse devices (e.g., mobile devices, robots, IoT devices)
  • The ecosystem of intelligent devices, including AI Copilot, Agent, LLM OS, multimodality fusion, etc.
  • Large model optimization algorithms (e.g., quantization, sparsity, distillation)
  • Design of new hardware for large model inference
  • System and algorithm design for scientific computing
