Vivan is a Research Incubations Director and Research TPM (Technical Program Manager) at Microsoft Research (MSR), where he plays a pivotal role in accelerating research and innovation globally. His work spans across technical and sociotechnical research teams and projects, driving research to business impact. Vivan leads cross company Embodied AI research within MSR.
Before joining Microsoft Research, Vivan held the position of Portfolio Leader for Satellite Systems at L3Harris Space. In this role, he was instrumental in directing critical space system programs, significantly enhancing execution, growth, and profitability. His experience at L3Harris built upon his previous tenure at Microsoft, where he served as Director and Principal PM in the Office of the CTO (OCTO). During this time, he drove cutting-edge AI & Robotics simulation for Microsoft Federal, Aerospace, and Industrial sectors, spearheading autonomous systems and robotics incubations, developing robust go-to-market (GTM) strategies, and forging strategic partnerships.
Vivan’s career also includes significant contributions at other major aerospace and technology companies. At Lockheed Martin, he led technical program team within Mission Systems. At Boeing, he headed the Cyber and AI products team within the Autonomous Systems line of business, where his leadership was crucial in establishing Boeing as a leader in cybersecurity solutions within the aerospace sector.
Vivan holds a BSc in Systems Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology and an MBA from Louisiana State University with executive professional certifications in Artificial Intelligence from UC Berkeley and Cybersecurity from MIT including professional certification from MIT CSAIL – AI in Robotics.
